The university had no problem paying Les Miles and even Ed Orgeron after his off the field antics.

10 million dollars to Les and 16 million to EdO were considerably smaller than 53 million to BK. Hence we paid without any issue.

It's the amount "intelligent one"

Brian Kelly was lazy is a very subjective call. Nobody survives this long in division 1 hc job being lazy....not one with Kelly's record even at LSU with 70% win percentage.

The problem with Kelly at BR was he did not culturally fit at a time when culture has become a part and parcel of our lives.

But we knew he was from Boston, he coached in the upper mid west and at the hallowed cathedral of education at Notre Dame. He would not fit here culturally like EdO did.

Even without the culture factor, offering a 60 year old a 10 year contract, no matter how good he is is a bad idea. He might try to win a natty but after a while age will become a factor and he might give up....which was what was close to happening.

Why did we hire him. Ok Woodward did it. But Woodward and Tate could not have done this without TAF and big money boosters approving of it. After all they were the ones that would be paying for most of his salary.

The hiring and the contract was on LSU. The impulsive firing was on LSU. Firing without reviewing the full financial implication was on LSU.

Then comes the timing of the firing...at a time we did not have a sitting president....then post firing we fire an established AD who has made two very good hires apart from Kelly...so we are left with a president and an AD. So then we get a president and then we are forced to promote someone to AD in haste. He is a good man and will in all likely make a great AD but we do not know that for sure.....that sir is on LSU as well.

Don’t we have a sports journalist or two left in Baton Rouge who can give us a legit long-form story on what happened here? This might be the biggest LSU football catastrophe in my lifetime - from being ranked #3 with a 5th year senior QB a 6 weeks ago to the complete demolition of the football program mid season?

This is a new age of college football. Big money, big expectations and ever changing rosters make things unpredictable to say the least.
The more messy this situation gets the more it hurts the LSU brand. Kelly does not have to coach. He has earned enough money for his kids to live in great comfort. But we have a program to run and compete.
Saban lives rent free in your head.

Guess what. That was what Kelly tried to do.
Frank told me Hurley will start against Arkansas. 108-0 Tigers win

Your right there isn’t a LSU COACH that was liked by everybody.

Eddie Eaugh was liked by all of us. He spoke like us, walked like us and thought like us. Ths ultimate LSU "one of us" coach.
Because he is one of us. Kelly wanted to fire him but instead he was let go.

This program could have completely fallen off the rails following Orgeron (see Auburn or Florida),

Watch, it is about to do so.

We got the better end of that deal. We don’t have to freeze in that communist shithole.

Trust me, Canada and Nova Scotia is far better than Louisiana at this moment.
Neither were Steve Spurrier. Phil Fulmer and Gene Stallings.

The only true reason for Kelly getting fired was fitment. It had absolutely nothing to do with winning or how he ran the program.

He was fired because he did not walk, talk and pretend to think like us.

Yea it had nothing to do with him not giving a shite and coasting.

The man gave 1 million of his own money to NIL. A did give a little more than a shite.

Kelvin Sheppard is an LSU great. Please let him stay away from Tiger Stadium, have a fabulous coaching career and a great life.

Not jumping into this situation would serve him well

Hallman got 4 seasons Kelly 3.5

How crazy is that. Kelly coached

10-4 (West Champion against a mega dynastry)
10-3 Heisman winner
9-4
5-3
Fired without cause at LSU with 4 games remaining.
He was 34-14

Curley Hallman (16-28):
1991 LSU 5–6 3–4 T–6th
1992 LSU 2–9 1–7 6th (Western)
1993 LSU 5–6 3–5 T–4th (Western)
1994 LSU 4–7 3–5 4th (Western)

We give a pass to people who.talk walk and think like us.

The only true reason for Kelly getting fired was fitment. It had absolutely nothing to do with winning or how he ran the program.

The next coach will come with a weaker resume than Kelly and will leave with a worse record.

In this era of NIL and in this league with 8 former national championship winners in the current BCS and post BCS era, where Texas and Texas A&M has a massive financial advantage in the NIL game, asking 1 of 3 playoff births from 9 powerhouse programs and 2-3 more good programs is simply asking for too much.

Firing a coach for fitment and not making the playoff is simple bad karma. The price will be paid

We fired John Brady 2 years removed from a final 4 appearance and where has our MBB program been since then.

We fired Archer to hire Hallman and where did it get us.

hope you’re joking

No I am not.

1. NSD is 3rd December. Which means if you do not have a coach before thanksgiving the recruiting class will fall apart. The season would be barely over on 3rd December, with championship games still going on and playoff births being settled in. You cannot expect any good coach to bolt before the regular season ends.

2. The political intervention in the coaching search should scare any coach with a good judgement to stay away from LSU.

3. LSU's expectations are way too high. We are not allowed playoff program at the moment. Haven't been since Ed Orgeron put the program on a downward spiral in 2020.

4. Considering the extra curricular in this hire, this would be a career wrecker for a young coach.

Hallman, Archer, DiNardo will testify. Miles got fired at Kansas for what he supposedly did at LSU, even though none of it was proven. All the dirty laundry on Kelly has damaged the reputation of a hall of fame career coach and it will hard for him to get the stench of his back. A guy like Kelly would like to go away a winner. Only the GOAT has survived LSU.

5. LSU's NIL collective, though nothing to scoff about, is just middle of the SEC pack. It will also be dented by Kelly's buyout.

6. LSU recruiting advantage is gone as geography no longer matters in recruiting.

So yes Wilson is not a bad choice.
Frank would be better than whoever we actually choose. This hire will likely go sideways. Hiring Frank for 4 million a year for 3 years will be really cheap. You can support him with 2.5 million coordinators and a good staff and NIL. If he can keep the program at 8-5 without a losing season, we can tide out the Kelly buyout years and come out financially stronger.

Go hire a CUSA , Mac, Sun Belt type coach for 9 million year and 7 years and you will have a huge buyout to pay in 3 years. Much better the hire Frank.
