This team’s achilles heel

Defense stacked. No question. Next week at Ole Miss will be a true test.
Red zone and down the field passing are the biggest concern. Despite what the stats say. Leavitt looked like he panicked and made bad decisions under pressure (which also resulted from bad oline play).
2-3 long passes last night where he led the wr right into the defender on one and the receivers also dropped a couple.
Next week , D keeps Ole Miss in check , but we better play better on offense to come out of there with a win.

LSU has to be able to run the ball, score and eat the clock. Run, Run, Run. End of story.
We leave the defense out there to long , its only a matter of time before TC will eventually strike.
Last night the oline didnt even look real on running plays and some pass protections. It was bad.

Even though the ball was slightly under thrown, wright should have caught his downfield pass.

Hopefully by like game 4-5 it will come together like it did similarly to 2019. Im surprised there hasn’t been any mixing up the 1st unit. The guards look poor

I don’t get it sometimes I got at 65 300 pounds that knows a snap count can’t push somebody off the ball. I was watching Texas Ohio State playing last night. Both of those teams seemed to run the ball between the tackles, not at ease but on demand hell every game, I watched yesterday majority of the teams did a really good job of running the ball
I don’t know I don’t get it. I don’t know. It’s so hard for us to do it sometimes at the same problem last year.

People always want to shite on the offensive line. In 2019 we had the best line in the nation and. to this day people disparage that great line full of NFL players.
In our offense the running game depends on the QB making reads. Defenses will outnumber us in unpredictable ways, and the QB has to be able to change plays or adapt during the play. Every time that fails people blame the line.
The same is true in the passing game. The other team is going to overload or send numbers. The QB (and WRs and RBs) have to see that and adjust sometimes. Are they? Hell, I don’t know, but one thing is for sure: when they don’t the line will get most of the blame.

The run scheme was poor thru 5 games or so. Call it whatever you want. It wasn’t cohesive as running out of the shotgun exclusively was something new to everyone:

Sam reminded me of Daniels in ‘22 where he was too quick to run if didn’t 100% see what he wanted.

Its the playcslling in short ydg and goaline situations. W T F is wrong with coaches who make it down to the 1 yd line, and go from shotgun, and still retreat for DELAYED handoffs 4 yds deep? It gives the defense exactly what they need....time.
Drives me nuts. Line up, under center, and go for power runs over your best guys, with biggest stringest backs running downhill from the snap.

I think they really really wanted Bordelon to win the job and be better. He stuck around.
But I think they have to try other Guards at this point.

Amen! Somebody listened to the post game show. When the D is sending 8 vs your 5 or 6 there will be unblocked free runners and confusion on the OL.
So you have to do something different and when we did we turned it over 4 times in one half.
I was a little fumed over running a 200 lb back straight into a 9 man box on the goal line and short yardage about 5-6 times. Tre Dez was able to overcome it.
