re: This team’s achilles heel

I think it comes down to as simple as if we can run the ball we will be successful with this team, if they can shut down our run like last night and make Sam throw the ball we are going to be in trouble. The key will be challenging teams enough downfield so they don't just stack the box and pin their ears back against our running game.

With two savants calling the offense, the short yardage play calling is still the same as the last 5 years. Delayrd draw/option from 6 yards deep handed straight up the middle for a loss of yards. We did it six times last night. Finally started gaining yards when we direct snapped instead of that long slow handoff from the shotgun. I just don't understand how in a day of ai, and analytics that somebody has not charted the fact that that play is 0 for the last 200 through three coaches at lsu. Is the run game outside of the quarterback just that limited in shotgun. formation?

The Oline woes from this game are completely over blown. Did they play well? No. Did they suck as bad as tRant is making it out? No.

The Bulldogs had one mission and it was to stop the run. They added a safety or slot db into the run fit ALOT making it where they had more guys playing the run than we had blocking. That along with all the run stunts out of the 3-3 gave us some issues. Kiffin and Weiss figured it out and adjusted properly but they were a tad stubborn early likely due to it being “LA Tech”. Tech was content letting us complete short passes and forcing us to drive the field instead of chunk plays. That only works if we make mistakes and give them the ball. We turned it over 4 times in first half. Second half we didn’t turn it over and we scored 35


Redzone run game struggled early because IMO Kiffin and Charlie were trying to be very basic. Tech committed almost everybody to the run so we either had to run the QB or we had to read a defender to make the numbers right. We did neither early. Later in the game we adjusted and started running the QB wide which took advantage of those inside run stunts and allowed us to equal the number of run defenders with the number of blockers in the run.


So basically what you saw was a solid plan by Tech then Kiffin and Charlie adjusting to the tune of 528 yards. I’d also add Ole Miss can’t stop the run so they are going to have to leave that bad secondary exposed to add an extra DB to the run fit or watch us run it down their throat. This offense has answers for any problem. The only thing that can stop it turnovers.

Except for last year 140 yards rushing would’ve been one of our best rushing performances. Some of yall are too stupid to insult.
