I saw the transfer TE from Pitt play some last night. Perhaps we could use some true two TE looks which sometimes forces a defense to employ base looks. How much did Lane and Weis actually Tech? I don't know, but there was a lot of confusion out there.

I think it comes down to as simple as if we can run the ball we will be successful with this team, if they can shut down our run like last night and make Sam throw the ball we are going to be in trouble. The key will be challenging teams enough downfield so they don't just stack the box and pin their ears back against our running game.

The Oline woes from this game are completely over blown. Did they play well? No. Did they suck as bad as tRant is making it out? No.
The Bulldogs had one mission and it was to stop the run. They added a safety or slot db into the run fit ALOT making it where they had more guys playing the run than we had blocking. That along with all the run stunts out of the 3-3 gave us some issues. Kiffin and Weiss figured it out and adjusted properly but they were a tad stubborn early likely due to it being “LA Tech”. Tech was content letting us complete short passes and forcing us to drive the field instead of chunk plays. That only works if we make mistakes and give them the ball. We turned it over 4 times in first half. Second half we didn’t turn it over and we scored 35
Redzone run game struggled early because IMO Kiffin and Charlie were trying to be very basic. Tech committed almost everybody to the run so we either had to run the QB or we had to read a defender to make the numbers right. We did neither early. Later in the game we adjusted and started running the QB wide which took advantage of those inside run stunts and allowed us to equal the number of run defenders with the number of blockers in the run.
So basically what you saw was a solid plan by Tech then Kiffin and Charlie adjusting to the tune of 528 yards. I’d also add Ole Miss can’t stop the run so they are going to have to leave that bad secondary exposed to add an extra DB to the run fit or watch us run it down their throat. This offense has answers for any problem. The only thing that can stop it turnovers.

Except for last year 140 yards rushing would’ve been one of our best rushing performances. Some of yall are too stupid to insult.
Edited to add. 147 yards rushing would have been our 3rd best rushing game of the year last year.

Looked to me like we ran a ton of RPO and La Tech just gambled on playing only that. They ran 4-5 across the sticks, squatting on every short RPO route and they run blitzed 5-6 guys. Anytime we wanted Green was wide open over the middle, anytime we ran guys on short corners we were wide open and anytime we wanted the wide zone was there. After listening to Kiffins post game it sounded like he was fine to let them deal with the adversity and figure things out but wasn’t worried at all. I think he knows we had chunk plays available anytime we didn’t shoot ourselves in the foot with a penalty. We’re fine.

Earl, we were at the goal line a few times, and or fg range.
Just pay attention to anytime we needed short yardage. Once your looking for the slow development runs, you can unsee the calls. They happen a lot.
And to be fair, sure, there are successful attempts im sure

Thats what im referencing. That dumb fricking pistol "deep set", and trying "power" out of it.
Why start a power run, 6 yds deep, with a stationary handoff to a rb with no forward momentum

So surprised that Kiffin allowed us to be in this position, of all groups to allow to be short handed the ol is by far the worst

Yes. It was a lot of squatted from depth man with extremely aggressive run stunts with an extra guy fitting the run to give them numbers. They would also show a 7 man box and when we checked into a pass they would check into a 6 man box. Thats what Lane was referring to in his presser when he said they just started going with the call instead of trying to get in the perfect play. The biggest difference I see from last year is we actually adjusted and hit a long run early in second half and had guys running wide open. Sam got frustrated and started to press and cost with the ints. Hopefully a great teach tape for Kiffin to help Sam grow.

Hilarious that you are calling things dumb.
That wasn’t power. Power is an actual play where you use an h back or Fb to kick out a DE and pull a backside guard to wrap. The play you are calling power was just split zone. Split zone is a zone style run. Power is a gap scheme run. But keep spewing bullshite.

Yea there were a couple of plays when he could’ve taken off but held the ball and didn’t do anything positive. The one that really irked me was the screen inside the 10 where he held the ball for about 2 extra steps and it cost us a TD. We had 3 TD plays on that drive one of our players screwed up.

On the Landon Clark TD yes the defense over pursuit allowed him to cut back. On the Leavitt TD he walked in on QB sweep left. But again keep spewing bullshite.
