A 23-20 win throwing for 321 yds. Also 1 TD and 1 Int. Burrow is my goat but that is a loss with this year's defense.

Burrows ran the team behind the scenes. He called plays during games. He coached fellow team mates. A real team leader. No one like him now or in the future. Coach O's biggest and perhaps only accomplishment. Getting Burrows who led us to a national championship.

I’m sorry man but as I posted you better start looking at the DEFENSES they played against.
I LOVE JAYDEN AND HE DESERVES THE HEISMAN. However, you want to know what people are going to look at?
LSU has lost to 17, 24(and ole miss not ranked in the top 50) and beat 45,46,47,and 48.
None of those teams have set the world on fire even FSU.

OK, sure - let’s look at the defenses.

The best (statistical) defense we played in 2019 was UGA (#3 in FBS). Burrow’s stat line in that game:
28/38, 349 yards (9.2 ypa), 4 TD, 0 INT
11 rushes for 41 yards (3.7 ypc)
49 total plays for 390 total yards (8.0 ypp)

The best defense we’ve played to-date this year was Alabama (#17 as you mentioned). Daniels’ stat line in 3 quarters of that game:
15/24, 219 yards (9.1 ypa), 2 TD, 1 INT
11 rushes for 163 yards (14.8 ypc), 1 TD
35 total plays for 382 total yards (10.9 ypp)

Had he not been knocked out on a dirty hit, he was on pace for 490 total yards and 4 TD.

We’ll never know what that stat line would have actually been, obviously. Not that it really matters because Alabama’s defense does not look as good as UGA’s 2019 defense. Texas A&M is #8 in total defense so we’ll see what that looks like next week.

Regardless, though - the two best (statistical) defenses we played in 2019 were UGA and Clemson. We had the opportunity to see Burrow in those games because the team made the SECCG and CFP. For shits and giggles, let’s say LSU somehow went to Atlanta and the CFP this year. Do you think any team we would play in postseason is holding Daniels to <390 total yards and <4 TD at this point? Because I don’t.

As for the games we lost.. you are knocking Daniels for losing to:
quote:

17, 24(and ole miss not ranked in the top 50)

Daniels accounted for 513 yards of total offense and 5 TD against Ole Miss. He didn’t lose that game.

Our defense lost it by giving up 706 (!!) yards and 55 points.

Daniels’ Alabama stat line is above. Our defense gave up 507 yards and let Alabama convert 79% of their third downs.

And I gave you the comparison between 2023 Florida State and 2019 Auburn earlier. Again, pretty similar performances. The difference?

2019 Auburn vs. LSU defense:
15/36 passing, 157 yards (4.4 ypa)
33 rushes for 130 yards (3.9 ypc)
69 total plays for 287 yards (4.2 ypp)

2023 FSU vs. LSU defense:
24/32 passing, 346 yards (9.4 ypa)
27 rushes for 113 yards (4.2 ypc)
59 total plays for 459 total yards (7.8 ypp)

This talk about “looking at defenses they beat” is silly because if we even had an average defense this year we would be 11-0.

Again, I don’t think Daniels is better than Burrow was in 2019. All I’m saying is that it’s closer than many people seem to believe.

I’ll be there! Looking forward to my first game in TS in 20 years. Just wish it were a night game. But yes Jayden deserves a full stadium at full throttle!

Daniels vs Fla State: 346 yds passing, 65 yds rushing, 1 TD, 1 int, several drops by Lacy (one which likely was a 50 yd TD).
The horror

And for the record:
Burrow vs Auburn 321 yds passing, 31 yds rushing, 1 TD, 1 int, 1 rushing TD.

There were several differences in the games;
1) 2019 had Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who ran for 136 yds, while 2023 had Josh Williams with 44.
2) 2019 held Auburn to 20 pts, 2023 allowed Fla State to get 45.
3) 2019 Auburn game was in Tiger Stadium, 2023 Fla State game was in Orlando in front of a 90% FSU crowd.
4) Auburn 2019 went 9-4, while Fla State 2023 is currently 11-0.

You had an idea they might be better but nothing prepared us for their senior seasons. What's really cool is the only thing similar about them is the crazy numbers. How they go about doing it is night and day different

Two things that stick out with both of them in their senior campaigns is they are both transfers and they came to LSU to study football. They both committed to studying film and learning the offense backwards and forwards. JD5's attitude on the field to me is contagious and you can tell he makes everyone around him better.

And if you base it on stats, then you simply have to adjust for time played. JB would have been out of last night's game, possibly by the 2nd quarter. Literally inconceivable he would have stayed in until the penultimate possession late in the 4th.
Burrow threw the ball 38 times and ran for 10 more times vs an eventual 7-6 Utah St team in 2019. Now explain to me how that isn't the same?

LSU's defense is the reason why Daniels didn't get out earlier. Daniels scored 8 TDs in less than 21 minutes. Let's say you take 3 and a half quarters. That's 37.5 minutes. LSU possessing the ball for 21 minutes and G St having it for 16.5 minutes is how it should have gone, but it didn't. LSU only had the ball for 10 minutes in the first half while G St had the ball for 20 minutes.

THAT is why Daniels stayed in the game for so long. If you want to blame anybody, continue to blame the sorry arse defense.

Burrow played against tougher teams this SEC and I don’t think anyone can truthfully argue against the SEC is the weakest it’s been in a long time

I’m arguing. If Bama and Georgia get in they will meet in the championship, unless they are on the same side of the bracket.

Remind me, was Burrow shut out in the second half of that game and did he win the game?
