I’m just here for the McMelt.

Doing that would be fine with me, btw.

This doesn't make any sense.

You'd still have to:

Pay the old staff

Hire a new staff

Let McMahon go and then fire the entire new staff after this year if they lose again

So now you'd be:

Firing 2 staffs

Hiring a new HC and hiring a new staff

Doesn't make any sense

This would be an epic fail when it comes to money. Zero logic in hopefully this take as your program hemorrhaging money at this point, so you are going to fire a bunch of staff and then hire new people that will likely be fired when the head coach is eventually fired…all why you continue to lose ticket sales and concession sales.

Best part is Amarak is losing money as we are I believe guaranteed a certain amount regardless of sales.

I honestly am pulling for this. The only thing I would add is that I want each loss to be by at least 20+. I want there to be no doubt because it seems like for whatever reason, LSU brass has a terrible case of Stockholm Syndrome with this FRAUD.

Hopefully the scene at the PMAC tomorrow is identical to the Arkansas debacle from a couple of weeks ago.

This is necessary for the sake of the program. Tomorrow is probably the first time I will ever pull for Nate Oats but I sincerely hope he pours it on.

The math doesn’t math. If the plan is to gut the staff then they’re already paying buyouts plus new hires. Also, isn’t it a common feature of assistant contracts that buyouts are voided if the head coach is fired? Or is that just football?

One would think they’re paying NIL either way.

And we know McMahon’s buyout is $6.5mil broken out over the remainder of his contract, or in other words he’s getting ~$2.2 mil next year one way or the other.

The only new expense would be another HC salary plus whatever buyout owed to his previous school.

So LSU can’t afford the “$30mil” to fire McMahon, but they can afford the let’s call it $26mil to keep him and fire his assistants.

I don’t know the exact numbers but you have to think some of the 4 million difference would be made up for by increased ticket sales.

The guy is 16-51 overall in conference play.

I hope you don’t run a business.

Woodward made 2 really good hires in Jay and Kim, but awful contracts with BK and McMan. Not that they were bad hires on paper, but the contracts, especially BK, were expensive AF.

If you don't give McMahon a decade to turn things around what are you even doing?

That would be one of the most stupid things I think any athletic department could come up with in regards to a situation like this.

The problem is McMahon and you want to keep him but fire his staff? How fricking stupid would that be. That would be like cutting out extra organs to try and fix cancer you have in your arse.

McMahon's contract wasn't expensive AF. When hired, his annual salary was about right in the middle of the 6 SEC coaches hired that cycle. Currently, because of salary inflation since he signed in 2022, MM is the lowest paid HC (based on average annual salary) in the SEC.

At the time of his hire, MM wasn't a bad hire based on resume. He had a better resume than Todd Golden who was hired at the same time by Florida. The contract, in terms of money, wasn't awful. The 7 year term was dumb...but I gave Woodward the benefit of the doubt that the circumstances at the time put LSU in a spot where they didn't have a ton of negotiating leverage.

The initial hire wasn't the problem. Continuing to drag things on once it was clear MM was not cut out for this level of competition has been the problem. Throwing more money at it has been worse. MOVE. ON!

I don't believe this for a second that the entire staff would be let go but McMahon stays. McMahon either comes back and some of that staff returns or he's fired. This isn't football where you point to an offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator as a major reason why you're not winning.

It's possible assistants jump ship either for a better job or a safe landing spot. Now if they're gonna force him to fire people in an attempt to get him to resign and/or negotiate a lower buyout, then maybe. But clearing out everyone except McMahon doesn't seem realistic.

What kind of quality assistants are going to come here to work under a lame duck, dead-man-walking scenario head coach? Just more payouts to another (new) group of assistants when McMahon is canned.

If you suck, it starts at the top. If you're not going to fire him don't double down on a new group of coaches.

I hate Jeremy Foley, former AD at Florida, but he had an often stated philosophy .. "what must be done eventually, must be done NOW!"

Also, payout is in installments so it's not a big hit immediately. It's really the cost of luring a quality coach and the NIL dollars. Unfortunately, no one was coming to a messy LSU situation with the possibility of scholarship penalties, etc after Wade without an iron clad financial guarantee.

We arent a basketball school. We are a baseball school who occasionally wins big in Football.

Its the truth, and a hard one to swallow, and Im okay with never winning another basketball game ever again if we can continue winning baseball games and bring the football program to an actual elite level.

This doesn't make any sense and I'd bet Scarborough doesn't know what he's talking about.

Any school can be good at any sport now if you’re willing to dedicate resources and hire really good coaches. Since football and men’s basketball make just about all the money for any school, we should probably take care of those two first. Football seems to be in good hands again. Basketball is not even close.
