Yea seems, as many have said, our NIL commitment was not what we thought. With just average money and a coach who has not won and the fanbase wants gone, makes sense that guys aren’t coming.

So next season will just be a waste of time. Fun.

The on3 and 247 guys have no idea what the plan is

That’s because not even the staff has an idea what the plan, vision or philosophy is for this program should be. It’s all about getting as much talent as possible, putting together stubborn game plans that do not fit player strengths and creating erratic and head scratching rotations from game to game.

things are not looking great for next season if we can't close this class out.

I don’t think things were ever looking that great. Our coach has a 14-40 conference record. Just have to wait it out next year. Hopefully we then get a real coach although I’m sure the excuse/narrative machine will be in overdrive all season long.

How many years in a row is this picking an OL in the 1st rd and the Saints still need O linemen?

The Penning misfire set this organization back 3 years at minimum.
Mickey is probably already back at his house and chewing his 8th piece of gum. He had to be reminded by Miss Gayle when leaving the facility that the second round is tomorrow.

Can't believe "Trade up Mickey" let the Giants beat him to Dart

I can believe it. He’s the worst GM in the NFL.

Wonder how much Carr was sweating that.

As a Saints fan, I have to ask “Who?”
Penning is such an albatross. He has handcuffed this organization ever since he got here and has contributed very little.

Thanks, Dennis Allen and Mickey!

They do this little dance every offseason then the season starts and they do a 180 on everything they’ve said in the off season. This has happened every year McMahon has been at LSU

Yep.

Regarding the transfer portal acquisitions:
Offseason: Look at all of these awesome signings McMahon got!
During season: He has no money to get anyone good! Not his fault!

Regarding the freshman right out of high school:
Offseason: McMahon signs a top 20 class
During season: How much can freshman really contribute anyway? You’re asking for too much! Not his fault!

Don’t ruin the thread with this.

Okay then. Who has McMahon signed in the last week? List them in alphabetical order please.

Anyone putting this on the coach is clueless. Players are leaving all over the place.

Blame anyone or anything but McMahon. It’s really quite pathetic.

Houston is returning at least 5 players from this past year’s squad including two starters in Joseph Tugler and Emanuel Sharp. Obviously Sampson has a good framework in place but the point is he is able to retain players due to his track record.

McMahon’s track record is 14-40 in conference play and hardly any players being developed even over the course of a season. The closest might be Miller from last year. That is why they are bolting.

The difference between a winner and a loser.

Team was terrible last year. Most transfers have gone to lower programs out of SEC.

Oh, Jim. The COACHING was terrible. There was definite talent on this team. As usual, no one really developed and game plans were not crafted to player’s strengths at all.

They’ve made it clear CMM needs to make the tournament or he is gone

Do you agree with this? Or would you rather McMahon be given a 5 year extension if we make it back to the NIT?

Have the McMen found their 2025-26 excuse? “We lost Givens at the 11th hour. What do you expect Matt to do? He needs another year!”

Staff keeping it quiet similar to all the other recruitments.

aka “We know we’re out of the running. We just won’t say anything and hope the fans still left forget.”
What is the philosophy or vision McMahon is trying to install here? It seems like this year is no different than years past where he just tries to cobble together the most talent he can, not necessarily the best talent that can fit his system (whatever that is).

I’m skeptical about this group of transfers. Aside from Dedan Thomas, none of the others really seem to jump out at me. I hope I’m wrong but they don’t seem like game changers. I remember last year how they sang Jordan Sears praises but that turned out to be pedestrian at best.

Also what is this nonsense about we’re hoping for two guys to jump in the portal so we can pursue? That seems awfully risky and just says to me that it is a continuation of McMahon’s poor roster construction and planning. If you remember, McMahon was aware of Jalen Cook facing possible suspension and still did not have a backup point guard on the roster.

It just seems like more of the same to me.
I’m glad I gave up on this hopeless franchise years ago. Getting the short end of the stick in the AD trade pretty much evaporated my fleeting interest and just confirmed to me that this is a franchise that is not taken seriously by the players and/or the rest of the league. In the chance that a star ends up here, you might as well start the countdown clock on when they are going to check out. If you ask me, Zion has been “quiet quitting” for about 2 seasons now.

There is literally nothing at the moment that can generate excitement for the future. I’m sure I’ll pay attention again when news breaks that the team is moving. Aside from the 2007-08 season, there has been nothing to show in the last 20 seasons. We’re a glorified G League team. Nothing more.

A few years ago, my wife and I were driving on the freeway going 70 mph. A car was going the wrong way and going about as fast. The car jumps in our lane all of a sudden. I blast the horn and swerve to my right (without looking before). Thankfully the car doesn’t swerve into me and I’m equally lucky that there were no cars to my immediate right.

I believe it was a guy who was trying to commit suicide and fortunately they stopped him before he hit anyone. Shook us up for a couple days after that though.
Is this going to be the go-to excuse for the 2025-26 season as we sit with a 4-14 conference record and a 1-3 record against P4 non-conference?

“Poor little Matt only had $8 million while the rest of the country had $20 million? Gotta give him another year. Can’t let the X’s & O’s guru out the door!”
I don’t disagree. Easier said than done though.
