Personally, I'd just let this go if I were LSU and Kiffin. It's not worth the trouble.
Then I guess it’s a good thing Kiffin has nothing to do with the basketball roster.

Question- and a serious, honest question, to clarify:
How much more is LSU attempting to push the bubble, than has already been pushed by other NCAA schools? Other SEC schools?
I mean, from the SEC's reaction with threats and suits, you'd think we're WAY beyond the others. But a little digging into things, and we're no further than other schools, and they went first.

So you believe players who played AND got paid in the NBA Summer League and/or G League are OK to return to college (as many have)? But it’s not ok for someone to return who didn’t play in either?
No, im not ok with any if them, in any way. Im saying he was a part of the pro system and was used in professional team's transactions via contracts and/or trades. Of course he had an agent too. And he was paid over 85000 during his pro "career".
I dont know what other boxes have to be checked to make you understand he was a pro athlete. Actual time on the court is irrelevant.
I do realize that legally there are issues with the way things went for some of these guys. But trying to argue RJ Louis didnt VOLUNTAIRILY turn pro and continue to pursue, until injured, is simply not a sound arguement.
The case between this situation will drag on. Theres just no reason, at this point, for LSU to roster him under some sort of injunction.
We just had a night game against Bama mysteriously get moved to a day game. Wierd timing huh?

LSU is not rostering RJ LuIs as long as the SEC says he’s ineligible, per RJ Luis’ lawsuit.

However, he could be held in contempt.
So what happens to Sankey then?

What the frick does RJ Luis have to do with Kiffin? does he play football now????
It's hilarious that a couple of folks thought RJ Luis was a football player and actually even doubled down on it.....gave me a good chuckle at least.

Well, we have our Governor, Attorney General, a local DA, and coaches talking shite about the SEC and the commissioner.

Tell me why RJ Luis is a “ pro” and guys who have played in European pro leagues are amateurs? Also tell me how guys who get sweet NIL deals aren’t “pros”. Does it not seem completely arbitrary to you?

I don't think anyone is arguing that he did not voluntarily turn pro.

The argument is that other PRO athletes have been ruled eligible. So why should his case be arbitrarily different?
College and HS athletes now have agents. That's not a disqualifier.
Other athletes voluntarily decided to turn pro. Just not necessarily in the NBA. There are multiple players playing, or who have recently played, college basketball that voluntarily went to the G-League, a pro league, before going to college. They were paid money. Many beyond $85,000. In fact, in the world of major college basketball today that is a very small sum.
On principle, I agree. College players should not be allowed to leave college, become pros and, if it doesn't work out or 5 years down the line their pro career flames out, be able to return to play college basketball or football. But if the NCAA is going to allow exceptions for some it become arbitrary to deny it for others.
The problem is the NCAA did not anticipate the college "marketplace" become so lucrative that it would be more attractive to many players to play college basketball than in an international pro league, the G-league, or even the end of the roster in the NBA or NFL. It's another display of the lack of foresight by the NCAA and the conferences are now trying to strong arm schools in to putting the toothpaste back into the tube. That's not going to work. College coaches are incentivized to take whatever steps they can to roster the best players they can. It's too competitive of a marketplace. If a college coach doesn't and he loses to those who do, he's going to be fired. When that happens neither the SEC, Big 12, NCAA, etc will step in to save the coach's job.
Players are winning this legal disputes because the NCAA refused forever to recognize reality. College football and basketball are big entertainment businesses, NOT "amateur" sports. There are BILLION dollar media contracts that speak to that. The money got so big that the college/conferences/NCAA could no longer pretend football and basketball were just scholastic extracurriculars in which the players should not be able to share, in some degree, the MASSIVE revenue they were helping generate. And they certainly could not argue that a player (or an person) doesn't own his on name, image and likeness.
As a sports fan do I like to see where college sports are going? Not really. But that path was being laid WELL before 2020 when the NCAA, conferences and schools were happily taking in more and more revenue (largely from TV contracts and ever increasing ticket prices)

LSU isn’t pushing any line. We don’t control the players and their lawsuits.

Wait, I’m sorry, has it been discussed yet that POS Tony Clayton is now threatening to sue Will Wade if he DOESNT roster and play Luis?

Luis' attorney, Tony Clayton Jr., told ESPN that if Will Wade refuses to play the star guard, he will bring the LSU coach to court and ask a judge to hold him in "constructive contempt." Per Louisiana statute, a person who violates an injunction or restraining order can be fined up to $1,000 and imprisoned for up to six months.

Im saying he was a pro. Cant help you with your desires to know all. (I mean i could, but wont)
For the record, i dont think our european pros should be allowed on our team.
IMO, pro means pro, period.
