Pressure, sure. Hot seat, not likely until year 4 if things go bad. We will have years of improvement from where we were. He fits, he's a good coach, he'll have time.

My expectation is a playoff this year, and honestly if that's not everyone's expectation then what did we just pay all of that money for. Whether that translates to pressure on Kiffin or not - not really sure, don't really care but I expect us to be one of the 11 best teams in the country this year.

He spent 40 million on a roster. He’s coaching at lsu. There is always pressure in these situations no matter how ridiculous anybody feels it is.

You can't spend as much as LSU did in the offseason to not have any pressure. This needs to be a good season to get the Kiffin train rolling. That does not mean NC or bust, but LSU needs to be in the playoff conversation in November.

I think he will have very good success, but there won't be a year 4 if things go bad and they don't make the playoffs by then.

Are people supposed to have zero expectations after you pay a coach 54 million to leave then spend 13 on a new coach 30+ on a roster?

Expecting a national championship would be unfair but having an expectation that you win 9 games and fight to be one of the best 12 teams and make the playoffs is not unfair at LSU

I know it may be difficult, but college football fans need to adjust their way of viewing things. The game has changed significantly. The days of roster building by stacking top HS signing classes over the course of multiple years are over. Every player is on a de facto "1 years contract" with no guardrails to force them to stay at the school for any longer than a year. If the "traditional way was still the most effective Indiana would not be your NC. Ole Miss would not (have been) a perennial CFP contender, Texas Tech would not have gone from 8-5 to 11-1 Big 12 champ in one season.

Last year's Ole Miss team didn't have some core group of players who had been together at OM for multiple years. The QB, RB, top 3 WRs, and two starting OL were ALL first year transfers. A big reason OM had success under Kiffin is because he was savvy enough to realize OM wasn't going to win by building rosters in the "traditional sense". They were going to win through "free agency". His ability to take numerous transfers and immediately win was why he had success at OM. It's WHY he got the LSU job. And it is why people are expecting him to do the same thing at LSU...because he literally just did it at OM last season.

Few, if any, are saying it has to be National Championship or bust this year. But this antiquated thought of he needs 2, 3, years to "build" a CFP team is BS. This isn't 2019.

There is no pressure in the sense that he is in no danger of being fired if, for no other reason, LSU isn't going to commit to pay another massive buyout after just one season. But there are reasonable expectations that he make the CFP this season. He has the roster to do it and has shown the ability to win with a transfer laden roster.

Pressure, hot seat, yada yada, it's all irrelevant

He isn't going anywhere after year 1 regardless

I mean Vanderbilt went 10-2 last season from the SEC and didn't make the playoff, depends on how competitive the season is around the country

If we go 10-2 or 9-3 with this murderer's row of a schedule, I think that's a successful first season for CLK at LSU and builds a foundation for sustained or elevated success as long as he coaches here.
