nah. after the sh*tshow that was Brian Kelly. We know that it will be a fun year of football watching. we have a shot, but in reality everything would have to come together. team chemistry, lack of injuries, esp. at qb and corner, offensive line gelling early. all the regular stuff.

after this season expectations will start to rise. I am optimistic we go 10-2 but realize we could go 9-3. Because we have a good defense i don't see us going below that. But I know for certain that it will be entertaining football to watch.

I have dreamed of having a head coach who attacked offensively. Saban did some of that if he had the right qb, and Joe Burrow did it. We know Lane will do it every single f*ing season! Geaux Tigers!

Yeah, right...

There will certainly be pressure.

It's LSU - there's always pressure to some degree.

Don't listen to the media. No pressure this year.

Yeah the roster is expensive but so are the rosters at a lot of schools and they will lose games

Future success will come from recruiting in state so he needs that opportunity

Geaux tigahs.

Idk I think he will have plenty of pressure, a schedule that Kelly would have had a losing record with. He could legit go 8-4, it’s pretty brutal, only good part is that most of the tough ones are at home.

There is pressure. He cant go worse than 8-4 with that roster and all the money he and his assistants make

We are in a new age of college football. See Indiana. Coaches getting paid 13 million per year at a place like LSU with the transfer portal are expected to put it all together right away. There are no more "by year 3" scenarios.

I think Lane has high expectations himself and is hungry. I don't think it's pressure for him. I think he expects to go 10-2 or better with what he has at LSU. Now, there is realistically zero pressure for him to win a national championship in year 1 when it comes to job security, but not making the playoffs would realistically be an immense disappointment. And yes, the expectation is to make the playoffs and compete this year. This is no cheap roster or coaching staff.

bullshite. Kiffin has been given more than any LSU coach in history in terms of salary and program support. He needs to win and go to the playoffs; anything else is unacceptable.

If we don't make the playoffs, people will be upset. That is the minimum

Indiana had 23 transfer last year. We had 41. Indiana's team was naturally older as well, which is why the won. Stop these comparissons.

He has some leeway this year. I do expect to see offensive progress.

You absolutely can compare them. I am talking about how fast he had Indiana extemely competitive and making the playoffs. Dude took a 3-9 team and the worst program in college football history and went 10-2 in his first year. And then went 16-0 and neutered Alabama in the playoffs 38-3 before winning the NC. You can have the oldest team in history and not do squat without great talent/coaching. Elite coaching and elite recruits out of the transfer portal made it happen and made it happen fast.

Ole Miss had 30 last year.

Lane’s track record of successfully utilizing the transfer portal is why comparisons are being made.

Whether realistic or not, Lane is expected to produce immediately considering monies implemented.

Pressure to win national championship year 1? No. Pressure to win at least 9-10 games and sneak into the playoffs? Yea.

I don’t think that pressure comes only from him being a good coach. This roster absolutely has playoff talent.

Gone are the days of thinking a coach needs four years to build a program.
…also nobody cares where the players come from. They all transfer eventually anyway.
…also coaches don’t recruit, they hire.

This has nothing to do with “The media”.
