Yes people use and enjoy this park all the time... to play golf. That is and will continue to be the best use of this park.
While I would love to have a thriving beer garden or concert venue in conjunction with the golf course, I have no doubt in my mind that the city is not capable of executing this. The only thing they are capable of doing is spending money.

My opinion is that at that price range, you can get a very solid set of slightly used irons that are more proven and higher quality. I bought a 2 year old set of Srixon Zx 5s for around 600 and they are sweet. I'd bet for 6 or 700 you can get the Zxi 4 or 5s. While there are good reviews out there for the Takomos, there are lots of bad reviews. I am not a Takomo hater, I think it is good for golf to have a higher quality cheaper option for a new set of clubs. However, you never or rarely see a golfer who spends alot of time on the course using them.
Edit: as another commenter noted, I have heard that the stock grips are horrible so factor in another $100 for new grips and the difference between these and high quality used irons gets even smaller

I guess the young guys are doing this to help with distance? La Sasso does the same spine bend. Its a bit scary to watch

The same reason Hole 1 is never a par 3. You should start and finish with driver in hand. However, I really don't disagree with you that's why I was curious about the history of the changes made to the course from the original design. Carter was built with a completely empty slate many years ago and I believe they have changed the course to make it shorter and removed trees to accommodate more house lots.

However, it looked like they have some crab grass on their tee boxes that they should address and very tall weeds in the marsh on 12 that is now a tree which should be cut.
Update: Played Saturday. The course wasn't terribly slow, about a 4:25 round. Really a pretty good course. The greens were punched what looks like about two weeks ago so they were letting the grass grow a little bit so the putting was rough but I will definitely be back in the fall to play again.
This might deserve it's own thread but does anyone know how much the course has changed from the original Toms design? I don't like how 17 and 18 both take the driver out your hands. I think 18 should be a driver hole on every course. I have the same criticism of The Bridges because the last two times I played they were having the course start on 10 and 9 is a layup par 4 (almost identical to 17 at Carter).

It's harsh. Unlike a hazard, the OB penalty is stroke and distance. If you hit into a hazard area, you have a penalty stroke but you drop from point of entry. It's a very harsh penalty.

Are people supposed to have zero expectations after you pay a coach 54 million to leave then spend 13 on a new coach 30+ on a roster?
Expecting a national championship would be unfair but having an expectation that you win 9 games and fight to be one of the best 12 teams and make the playoffs is not unfair at LSU
