We can start judging Coach O in 2021. It will then be his program. Everything that happens till then is all on Miles. That's how it works in the real world people.

You joke, but here's a post from the other thread:

quote:

My bar isn't lowered, I simply realize what condition this teams roster was in and see that we have real talent across the board now. That talent now needs time to develop and create a team dynamic with one another.

Apparently, teams should only have high expectations every few years and that sustained success, regardless of the challenges that EVERY single coach and team face, should not be expected.

I still feel there's this misalignment with some folks that Ed O is the only coach who has to face the challenges of: injuries, young players, recruiting and coach churn, gaps in running specific strategies with specific players, etc.

I'm not even sure expecting improvement is fair to these people, because you know, then the schedule gets in the way.

The excuses run rampant so that true critique of O is effectively blocked by "this will take time," and "let's ee how this plays out."

so we fired miles to CHANGE the expectations, not to continue them. Thats kinda the point everyone is pissed about.

Perhaps the point is that the lowered expectations are irrational but he understands why people have those expectations.

I just took a job as a PM for a Commercial Contractor. The job was available because the last guy couldn’t cut it.

If I do a shitty job for a year do you think I’m going to still have that job?

Now here’s the reality of the situation- O has backed himself into a corner because of some terrible team performances and hires. People were already skeptical due to his tremendously awful failure in his only head coaching stint. Tack onto it that he is he highest paid state employee and he doesn’t get lead time. He doesn’t get time to learn how to do a 3.5 million dollar job.

He either succeeds or he fails. So far he has failed. If he fails in ‘18 he will likely get another year. His boss won’t. But he will.

Let them go to Austin TX to start the ‘19 season and lose that game and Dave Aranda will be named the interm head coach. Garunteed.

Will Wade didn’t wait 3 years to turn things around! Man, stop making excuses. This is LSU, and we don’t lower our expectations. We take the proper steps to ensure play stays at a championship level!

Please provide the links to those who predicted the demise of the LSU team BEFORE the Orgeron hire, OTHER THAN those who recognized the hire as a bust. The OP does not make an intelligible argument to support the title of his post.

So we hired O to rebuild and fix low expectations? That’s fricking stupid.

Miles didn't have anything to do with last years offense either. Nothing has improved since Miles was fired, not one damn thing.

Really? I think everything has improved. You dummies just can’t accept the fact that miles left the program in a significant downward trend. Significant holes in the roster. A terrible culture around qb’s. And that’s something that you just can’t change over night.

He has to get a top Qb this year. And he has to work through a year breaking in a new qb, new offense, and a tough as shite schedule.

It’s important to examine ‘how’ we play this year. And not just the record.

So promoting the tight ends coach from that culture is the answer to our offensive and quarterback woes?

Who knew!

This is still so sad to see. Our expectations are completely gone. My how far we have changed.

Was it Orgeron's fault Kiffin didn't come to LSU as the OC? Was it Orgeron's fault Jimbo Fisher didn't come as HC? How many coaches wanted this job that you know of? Miles set this program back financially and ability wise. O will be gone if there is no improvement but give the guy at least a chance to improve the situation

I guess we'll never know since Alleva didn't conduct a search over the months that followed his decision to fire Miles. Are you seriously suggesting O was the only coach that wanted the LSU job?

You Orgebronies said the same things last year. And yet here we are again with no top QB and a team that will very likely fail to win 10.

wait, we are still blaming Les Miles?

quote:

if jimbo was head coach, I don't know if anyone would be predicting that lsu would have a good offense.

yea, no. I'd be giddy with Jimbo coaching up Brennan for this season.

even most of the highly touted college QBs don't make it in the NFL. Mett was good at LSU.

“Miles left the program”

21 games ago, nationally ranked, and with top 5 recruiting rankings for a number of yrs.

“I think everything has improved”

Our national recruiting ranking has dropped since 2015. Our national team ranking has dropped. Our scoring per game and yds gained per game has dropped. Our L’s went up since 2015. We suffered our worse L in the Miss St series history. We suffered our 1st ever L to a SBC team.

Where is all this improvement??

Personally, I blame Mike Archer.
