Agreed! This needs to be the best ballpark in the country. It’s been 13 years since it was built and I don’t think they’ve had any upgrades to it, or am I wrong? It’s about time. New life doesn’t just mean a new coach. We need a new atmosphere. Get the stadium upgrades and get a new event staff. Let the people have some fun man!!

LSU is a national brand, and attracts players nationwide. Say what you want about the development once they get here, but we still attract the best players from around the country. Alex Box is one of the best atmospheres in America, and the fan support makes the program revenue generating. We have facilities that are among the best. The head coach is a celebrity within the state, where at other schools, a majority of the people will never know his name, let alone pay attention to the team.

LSU is still among the best college baseball jobs in America.

The job is still attractive. The issue is you have a contingent of people purposely trying to shrink the field to get their boy the job.

Recruits are typically at SEC games.

I seriously doubt recruits are telling LSU no because they have bleacher seats in the outfield and don’t allow people to BBQ during the games. I get it’s not the best experience for the kids but then you give them a tour of behind the scenes and show them the locker room that is strictly for MLB players to come train in the offseason with you or their own workout facility or the indoor hitting cages or the team room and that would outweigh that.

If you don’t think LSU is still a premier program then why would Bergman and Crews, to name a few, pick LSU when they could’ve gone anywhere else

No, but I think this is a weird situation.

When you are looking for a coach, it is because the coach left for a better gig (not a factor at LSU), fired, or retired.

Usually when a coach at a top school retires, there is a plan in place when the retirement happens. A coach in waiting. Look at Duke Basketball for an example. Many times it is internal like that.

Also, coaches usually only leave one major school for another, if there is a problem at the first school (Kramer's mom) or an emotional attachment to the new school (Paul).

So we have a coach with an emotional attachment (Bianco) and one or two coaches with potential current-school concerns (O'Sullivan and McDonnell)

It's just a weird situation. Our job is still a top 5 job, but coaches at top 20 schools don't usually jump up to top 5 jobs unless one of those two issues are happening.

Does anyone actually know what his buyout is?

I don’t know where people are getting high buyout from.
According to link it’s $250,000. Question is would LSU offer him a competitive package while keeping his buyout that low. McDonnell may be one of these coaches who insist on low buyouts in their contracts. I doubt LSU would guarantee him $7M if fired as well as a low buyout. He really has a sweet deal at Louisville.

No. It's still a, if not THE, top job in college baseball.

And Bianco isn't a top 10 coach.

So this is fricking absurd. Go get McDonnell.

This hasn't been true in a while.

You are blind while these other programs build better facilities that result in more fan support and better environments.

Wake up. You are falling behind.

It's a top 5 job consistently and that won't change. We don't have a Dudy Noble but our facilities aren't garbage. We have great fan support, great brand recognition, and reputation.

Not true. Kristian Garic on WWL Radio said StarkVegas is a dump facility and their coach would jump at the chance to take the LSU job.

Fan experience lol, what?

UF must be so good because of their fan experience. This might be the dumbest thing I’ve seen you say.

It is not. LSU fans always overrate the talent, facilities, and program prestige.

There are more options for a baseball coach now.

But, LSU should have enough star power to bring in a solid coach. Since the coach coming in won't get to the CWS every year, the Rant will still call for his firing every year.

What you're seeing is smokescreen after smokescreen. Scott is buying time. It's smart. He'll look at the moment like he's losing his targets, but in the end he lands his big fish.

No. It’s still probably top 2 in prestige at worst. Only other program I can think of is Texas.

The only potential ‘issue’ I see is that college baseball has grown, and you don’t have to be at a place like LSU to win a title and have a badass program.

Very, very few coaches care about this. What does make a difference? Money. LSU pays it. Look at OConnor at UVA...in CWS, multiple times..he makes like 250k
