Are we overrating the prestige of this job? With the facilities needing massive improvement and the program being average the last couple years, has the program lost some of its shine to hire a big time coach?

The facilities for the coaches and players are among the best if not the best in the country. The issues with the Box are all fan related.

The issue with LSU baseball is the same thing that makes it great. The expectations and pressure from the fans and administration is higher than anywhere else.

Please go look on YouTube at Alex Bergman’s tour of LSUs facilities. They’re top in the country and the resources are almost endless here. The only thing needing upgrades is the stadium, which I think will come very soon especially with a new, aspiring head coach

We could have gotten KOS or Casey if we wanted. The issue is that most top coaches are still coaching right now. McDonnell has a huge buyout since he redid his contract. It's not his yearly price that's the concern. But he would take the job. So would Godwin.

What's happening this week is a result of trying to hire someone quickly and your team not playing or doing anything. The longer you go with no coach, the crazier and more desperate things can seem when really it's just a matter of timing with the new coach.

I don't think so, because I think we are going to spend a ton of money.

Absolutely.

LSU fans are basically in denial about the fact that LSU was a very big fish (the biggest) during a time when there was a very small pond. Things are different now. The number of schools with facilities, fan support, significant program investment is through the roof compared to the 90s.

LSU, like every other program, is going to have to spend top dollar to get a top dollar coach.

It's a top 5 job consistently and that won't change. We don't have a Dudy Noble but our facilities aren't garbage. We have great fan support, great brand recognition, and reputation.

Are you sure the Box is even a top 3 park in the SEC....it's surely not top 2.

Why aren’t we talking about Lemonis?

i don't know about overrating it. but the fact is that LSU has won one title in 20 years. think about that for a minute. a high school senior today was born around 2003. it's still a great job. but it's one of many places now that have nice facilities and attract top talent.

The players and coaches don’t care about the stadium seats, we are talking training and development and we have as good as anyone. Also you will play in front of more fans than anyone else

Don't think it's that...

Baseball coaches are just a different breed of coach. They build their program and due to the nature of the game choose to not move around as much as Football/Basketball coaches. Also, most schools do not put a huge emphasis on wins and losses on the baseball field as an LSU would.

Wrong.

Only equal to, not better. When everything is equal, you look for other things to put you over the top. Fan experience is a part of that.

False.

Well Texas had to settle for David Pierce. They wanted PM.

The box is not good but every issue with it is strictly a fan experience issue that the new coach will never experience himself. Plus in a regional/super regional that place will still be packed.

Yes. I wonder how many of the targets have turned LSU down such that they have to go to their lower choice of Bianco.

Recruits are typically at SEC games. And you have to host regionals and supers to get them there. Finally, regionals aren't packed, just supers are. These are real LSU issues where teams like Arky and State have figured out to get fans in the stands even during the regular season.
