Why aren’t we talking about Lemonis?
I been wondering this myself. Guy has done a hell of a job. I think LSU should look at raiding him and whoever he wants to bring with him. Surely we could pull him from Mississippi State.

I think lsu is one of the top 5 jobs in baseball. There is alot of tradition, but when you become irrelevant for 5 or 6 years and 6 graders are now juniors and seniors they didn't grow up in the 90's and they don't see what all the fans saw. They don't see lsu like we see them. Once that ball gets rolling and you do nothing about it. You become the notre dame of baseball. If you ask their football fans they would say they are a top 5 football school, but it truth they are not, they were in the 90's. The coaches and technology has to adapt. When it comes to the stadium when you don't make upgrades fans will quit coming and the one thing lsu can always say is they have the best fans, when you have the #1 attendance for almost 25 years. That is a recruiting point, but also that means the fans deserve upgrades. They have always done their part ,now its time for lsu to show their appreciation for it and make changes to the stadium.

Well Texas had to settle for David Pierce. They wanted PM.
Don’t know if you were just being sarcastic, but it’s a good example. Pierce came from coaching small schools with some sucess, and had good pedigree as an assistant at Rice. Very similar to Godwin’s resume. Texas wasn’t able to pul in a big fish

The issue is you have a contingent of people purposely trying to shrink the field to get their boy the job.
Thank you, Skip, for giving us a trash stadium and an unnecessarily difficult coaching search.

You are blind while these other programs build better facilities that result in more fan support and better environments.
Wake up. You are falling behind.
Environment comes with winning. Not putting a berm in left field.
The game day experience at those places are excellent because their teams are rocking.
LSU has their own special thing when they are rolling.

No!
We’re the Duke of college baseball! This is a blue blood program and I’m ok with them not being impulsive.

What's happening this week is a result of trying to hire someone quickly and your team not playing or doing anything.
What’s happening this week is the media controlling a narrative because there’s nothing actually coming from the athletic department. And our fans fall for it every time.

Are we overrating the prestige of this job? With the facilities needing massive improvement and the program being average the last couple years, has the program lost some of its shine
Facilities don't need massive improvement. It might not be "the best", but it ain't BAD. And it holds (and will fill) about 10k of fans.
Tennessee, for example, holds about 4k at the most.
Program being average- we just went to a Super Regional with a bunch of freshmen. 2 players are on the Freshman All-American team. In baseball, a stud freshman is 99% a guy who would have been a high draft choice but chose college instead; so that says we have a very talented team.
We just saw a lot of freshman pitchers, too. They're not polished yet, but they have the talent, and did produce in the Oregon regional.
This IS a high-pressure job, but it's also one a guy can come in and experience immediate success, with an unlimited ceiling.

I think we are looking at good candidates.
Guys who are consistently Making the equivalent of the Sweet 16, and maybe they aren’t winning championships but they’re not at traditional power schools. That’s sorta the same thing most big power schools do in Football and Basketball when they hire HCs. Very few can hire away a multie NC from program that’s having success.

The only jobs that you could argue as bigger would be Florida, A&M and Georgia. I say these three because with the right leadership, their resource pool is way higher than the rest of the conference.

Nonsense.
Stop believing the rumors, they are just that.

No. Every single coach in America ran the the thought the through their head when CPM announced his retirement.
This is still THE job in college baseball

I can say that after being at Tennessee this weekend, our facilities are still years a head of theirs.

Things have changed over the years. Parity has spread out. The position is still a top 5 job. Usc was the baseball school of 1960/1970’s - things are always fluid.

Please go look on YouTube at Alex Bergman’s tour of LSUs facilities. They’re top in the country and the resources are almost endless here. The only thing needing upgrades is the stadium, which I think will come very soon especially with a new, aspiring head coach
someone please explain to me what the issues are with the box.
opening for the 2009 season as a bigger and better facility, then why is it sub par and already in need of an upgrade?
a little help from the rant, please.

LSU baseball is absolutely one of the best jobs in the country. Arguably the best job. Certainly the most high-profile college baseball job.
We have everything when it comes to college baseball: the brand/exposure, the support, the revenue, the resources, the recruiting. Other schools have caught up or closed the gap on support/revenue/resources, but in most cases still aren’t even close to catching up with the overall brand and reach/exposure.
