If this wasn’t against LSU we’d be calling BS.

It's both.

She also said her HS did not hold MLK day one year, wonder what the story on that was?

I’d have to think most of the writers doing this imagine themselves as antiracist.

The article was written with an immature level of malice. Hailey did a great job reflecting this back on the writer. Don’t possibly see how the writer can defend himself.

Liberals being sexist & racist. Agendas exposed.

CKM with last laugh. They are doing her recruiting for her. Priceless exposure.

Racist against who? Mulkey or the team? Because it would be tough to say both

Most of the team vitriol is really directed at mulkey. All of this is silly.

There’s not much real malice here. Just poor journalism.

She’s probably just trying to use their only weapon against them. Same as Mulkey using the sexist label. Not sure I like the r-word in any context but they should double, triple and quadruple down on the sexist card. And I’m not familiar with all their sexual orientations but I’m positive there are some lesbians on the team. Maybe they can victimize themselves that way too.

I’m still trying to figure out where he got this from? I’ve paid attention to a lot of women’s basketball this season, and UCLA is no where near “America’s favorite”. If he said this about Iowa, sure. But nobody cares about UCLA. Not even in LA. I’ve heard about Juju Watkins all year, she plays at SC, not UCLA.

I know the R word can make folks uncomfortable but this is exactly what happened.
Right there with you. It is overplayed and overused and is now a cheap political attack when no other argument works. But seeing our players called "dirty debutantes" in comparison to the other team, this writer knew or should have known he was bringing race and class into a discussion about basketball.

The in-depth, unflattering investigation by the WaPo of the fact that she has no relationship with her father.

How many male coaches get that kind of treatment?

I find it to be more elitism than sexism or racism. As Ivan Drago’s wife said “we are so very bad, and you are so very good.” The bottom line is UCLA can’t win anything outside of water polo and volleyball. They need to just shut up and take their L’s.

I disagree. Primarily bc of where it came from. Los Angeles (to be fair typically but of course not everyone) looks down on everyone else. If this had come from Louisiana and been the other way, this would be national headline news. It’s gotten publicity, but there would be a lot more. Im a homer for sure, so loyal to LSU to a fault at times, but the narrative that this was “racist” isn't far off. If LSU WBB were all white, the article would not have been the same or even close. True, “racism” is overused, the biggest reason that is a shame is that it takes away from actual racism. None of us can deny that racism exists, I think most of us here are just tired of “faux racism” complaints. But racism still exists, even in woke Hollywood.

Describing a college based female athletic squad as the equivalent of newbie female porn is certainly something that is fairly characterized as sexist

Google the lyrics to “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist” from the Sesame Street spoof musical ‘Avenue Q’. Very funny and very true
