You can interpret it any way you want. It doesn't matter. This whole thing is (mostly) over

Did you want us to break the rules? I don’t understand the question of the premise of this whole threat.

The NCAA change the rules after the draft creating this mess

A judge says yes, you are entitled to your fifth year because I think they’ve viewed it as your student athlete. You’re not a pro you’re not in the NFL because if you were in the NFL you wouldn’t be in court trying to go back to college.

Everybody made a big stink about it, and LSU said they would follow the rules

So in one way we’re not obeying the judge order, but we’re obeying the SEC’s threat to penalize a program for bringing back former NFL players which is a farce

All we’ve done is bring to light that the NCAA was late and changing their rules creating yet more complexity

The SEC wanted to keep it clean and not have anyone that’s ever put on a uniform in the NFL. That’s just a line that they said could not be crossed.

It’s sad for the players the threat to penalize LSU ultimately hurt these athletes and as I understand that they’re now going to sue the SEC for damages

So good luck with that I would say

The true results of this fiasco will be determined by which side suffers more reputational harm long term LSU or the conference. I bet that time will show that the SEC erred in handling this situation.

I love the fact that Kiffen pushed the envelope, legally and under the SEC rules, but when he saw just how stupid and out of control Stankey was getting he pulled back and became the adult in the room. He put his team ahead of his own personal feelings, That's called maturity and it's called leadership.

I can give you a simple reason to interpret this as the league blinking first: The SEC wanted to ask a federal judge to block LSU from interfering with their supposed vote to expel. LSU was never trying to stop the league from having its vote, and informed Sankey of such, basically saying "go ahead, we dare you to oust us". And then they decided to not have the vote.

People in the media are trying to pretend that the league changed its mind only after LSU locked in their final roster, but that simply isn't true. LSU had already notified the league before the game on Saturday that they would not be adding these players, even though these players had won their injunctions. LSU was trying to play nice, and the league STILL threatened. This is how you know that LSU called their bluff, and the league folded, rather than the other way around.

Bending the knee? They've said from the start they will do whatever the SEC asks them to do. They want to be in the SEC and want to follow the rules. They also were just waiting to see what happened with this federal case as that would potentially impact the details players eligibility. So just make rules for everyone and enforce them equitably.

Do you consider it folding everytime a team runs a play without putting 12 men on the field? If following the rules is folding in your view, then think of it that way. Not sure why it matters.

LSU bluffed and folded its hand. However, LSU did not bend any knee. LSU was warned that its bluff could have disastrous implications for LSU and it ultimately complied with the warning and broke no rules. So, unless following the rules is "bending the knee", you are simply wrong on this one.

The SEC threatened expulsion for LSU. The LSU President called their bluff and basically said, “knock yourself out, have your little vote”. Then the SEC called off the meeting. Sounds like the SEC caved.

The last chapter has not yet been written ..I expect lawsuits with the SEC named as defendant along with a number of others named as co-defendents.

This phrase is way overused.

SFP should be put back in timeout just for using it about 500 times since Tuesday night.

Actually, I think I get along with SFP decently well - we play a lot of FF together - but yeah, I noticed that.

I didn't comment, but I was thinking damn man, find a new phrase - or better yet, take a break for a minute.

No need to let your emotions overcomplicate things.

Strategy first. Keep your eye on winning in the end. Take the hits as they come, but keep marching to the target.

LSU is about winning. We can’t win if we aren’t in the game.

I agree. Did we “bend the knee” by allowing the media to give a half a natty to usc in 2003? No, because under the rules at the time, we won the natty that year. Period. We followed the rules.

LSU didn't fold, they followed the rules.
When the court ruled the players could play, LSU assumed the SEC/NCAA would allow it as they have allowed other court rulings allowing "ineligible" players to play. Instead, the SEC created new penalties/consequences pertaining to this issue, then went after LSU/Kiffin.
LSU never intended on breaking rules and they didn't.

The SEC handled this in a ridiculous manner. Now, they will be spending money and time fighting whatever lawsuits these players file against them.
