Baker and the D are getting a lot of heat and they should but we can’t ignore the reality that a lot of those first half points came as a result of our offense not being able to get first downs and keep the ball away from Ole Miss.. That is a fact. You can’t play a high level offense and just keep kicking it back to them

Ole miss is not better Leavitt is just that bad. LA tech proved that already.

Yes, I agree. We knee Leavit wasn’t Jayden. We knew the OL wasn’t going to win the OL award. We lacked a Chse or a Jefferson or a Guice. But we thought our D was in the 2011 class. It isn’t.

It's bc the D was facing Trinidad Chambliss and the O was facing an OM defense that isn't very good

Giving up that TD to Ole Miss before halftime was criminal. We had the most success with pressure looks and pressure. Showing a 3-man front presnap without anything for Chambliss to process was just dumb. Bad scheme. If we go into the half 20-7 or 17-7, that is a much different 2nd half.

And then Bakers sorry arse allows a TD before half when Ole Miss only had a minute and no timeouts to work with. And that TD was a huge play in the game. Pitiful

Yes, that’s when we needed them the most. Instead of 17-7 and LSU getting the ball it was 24-7.
The same thing happened late in the 4th quarter. Tied at 24 we let Ole Miss drive the ball for a TD. We were rested and had the momentum.
The fact is at crunch time our D failed to hold the rope.
Now our O didn’t come through either, but most thought our D was special and we knew our O had warts.

The reason we couldnt take advantage of Ole miss weakness at DB because we cant get guys open down field because Sam can hit them, he is not looking and OL is bad. Take your pick.Louisville torched them because a new QB could hit Wr's. This needs to get fixed but just lost our best deep threat.

The scheme on defense was terrible and that’s on Baker and LK. Leavitt looked bad but nobody expected our defense to go out there and look like a Matt House defense. Baker adjusted at halftime but you can’t tell me all these coaches we pay for couldn’t make an adjustment after the first OM TD.

The last two of which were TD drives following 8 play and 17 play drives by LSU.
It’s okay to say both the offense and defense were shite in the first half. Part of the defense’s job is to get themselves off the field on 3rd down and it was a total failure in that regard.

Other than the last drive of the first half, I don't have a problem with how the defense played. Kiffin said that the game plan going in was to play soft cover and keep Chambliss in front of them. Obviously that didn't work and they made the necessary adjustments at halftime. But that last drive in the first half was awful. That's the one that cost us the game in my opinion. Things are much different if we go into halftime down 17-7 with some momentum after a defensive stop instead of 24-7 after getting your shite pushed in.

Sam was too anxious to try to run the ball early in the game. Later in the game the Offensive Line looked the same but he was actually trying to get it to a receiver. There were several times that I could see a receiver coming open and he was already running to get away from pressure that hadn't gotten to him yet. The one that the announcers mentioned looked like a QB draw - had a receiver open down field with his arm up... I don't think the receiver is looking to get a pass if the call is QB draw.

The offense was a huge problem simply for keeping the ball away from OM more in the half and limiting points.
The defense #1 issue was letting Chambliss go 8 for 8 on 3rd down many of which were 3rd and long (>8yds). This killed us and seemed to be from playing too soft in coverage. Chambliss was releasing the ball in 2 sec or less to wide open shallow receivers and not many pass rushes are going to affect that. You have to delay the QB with coverage.

How do you feel about multiple sub 1 minute possessions in a row impacting a defense facing a fast paced offense with Chambliss and lacy?

And therein lies the biggest problem.
We had a bad game plan and it took us a half to get it corrected.

It seemed like the plan was to not have the edges get up field too far & leave massive running lanes for Chambliss to take off in. With doing so, you lose some of your aggression & ability to pressure from the outside.
