He's a freshman All American. That's good enough for me.

Dumb comment.

no win scenario for JD. Inadvertently, he has not compared his career to Burrow's. He loses that comparison.

Just asked post game about his number and the JD situation.

Now post the rest of his comment, jerk.

I'm not surprised that you're trying to act like JD and his crappy mother haven't made total fools out of themselves.

I don’t fault Daniela for feeling slighted but I do fault him for how this went about. I would probably have you know said I was upset or floated it out there. Idk if I would have jumped into the public fray with a cease and desist letter

Irrelevant. Unless you believe that all freshman should be numberless until they prove they can accomplish more than players who came before them?

I'm with you. This nonsense is so incredibly trivial.

I would not retire any number - EVER. The Cannon and Burrow families can get bent if they have a problem with it.

A current player wearing a number of a former LSU great/legend does not detract from nor disrespect the LSU legend in any way.

A former player believing his/her jersey number should never be used/issued again is a MONUMENTALLY ARROGANT and POMPOUS individual. The self-absorption of such a person would be immeasurable.

I guess I missed that part of the show. Do not remember him taking JDs side at all. Even referenced that UF has not retired Tebow's 15 and that it was not a big deal. I guess i missed some stuff.

Yep. This Daniels thing is about Burrow's #9 not being used. JD feels slighted bc his number was given out and nobody wears Burrow's.

Even Flynn is on the side of Daniels
well, if this true and Burrow's number has been retired somewhat, then Daniels has a point. Daniels and his family shouldn't be disrespected like they've been getting done to them.

UF does not retire numbers, that's why Tebow's number wasn't retired.

You want advanced metrics? If you took away all the rent a win games from Burrow’s last season and just included his SEC, Ranked opponents, SEC title and playoffs to replace them then compared it to JDs entire season, including the rent a win games Burrow’s numbers are still better.

If they gave 9 to another player, I know exactly what Joe would do if asked about it.

He’d shrug, sip his water bottle and give a cheeky response about how you better make it look good.

Yeah. Get your hearing checked. Flynn said it pissed him off that someone else wore 15 at Florida. Here’s the entire segment.

If we make a deep run in the playoffs this year, I would argue he’s more important to the ultimate success of this season than Daniels was important to those seasons. He’s a really important player and an elite one. He just plays a different side of the ball.

100%

If you believe that the school will produce more great players, there are limits to how many you can retire just by the numbering rules.

There are only 58 numbers available to RB's, Wr's and Qb's. These are the positions that win Heismans. i'm sure if you went deeper into it that number of jersies you may find that a lot of those numbers are not sought out by any Star recruits, so it limits your pool even more.

In USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State , and Notre Dame cases, they already have 7-8 numbers they can't use JUST because of Hesiman winners, not to mention if they just love a RB, WR, or QB who didn't win the Heisman.

If LSU had a hard and fast rule that only a HEISMAN secures the number... fine, but they don't.

Maybe not but what DJ is that Daniels isn't is a player on the roster who can help a 1st year coach win! Whatever handshake understanding Daniels had with Brian Kelly and his staff went right out the window when Kelly was fired! Lane didn't coach him & has no ties to Daniels. He does however have a responsibility to DJ & the program to try and keep that kid happy and out of the portal locked in ready to play! If that means giving him a jersey number that isn't officially retired then so be it! There are only 99 numbers available for use without any numbers retired! For a roster of how many every year???? If you retired every number for players who won national awards you would have 5 players wearing the same number or some shite! So frick what Jayden Daniels is talking about!
