They’re both single digit numbers. There isn’t a single digit number that’s considered exclusively a quarterback number in today’s game.

All I remember is Greg Stringfellow the equipment manager stating that he was not planning to issue anyone the 9 jersey following the season. He was in charge of the issuing out numbers. I don’t know about the number 5.

It’s wild there are still people who try to equate Jayden “stat padding” Daniels to Burrow. Even ignoring the fact that Danny Etling’s teams were about as successful as Daniels’, who were the elite teams Jayden led us to big wins over in 2023? What were his Heisman moments?
Certainly nothing in prime time against an at the time top ten Texas team. Not a game sealing 50 yard TD against a top ten Florida team in primetime. Not one of the best performances of all time on the road against one of the best on paper bama teams of all time and one of the most hyped games. Not a backbreaking dagger escape and throw against Georgia in the sec championship, number one defense in the country.
Jayden put up gaudy stats against a bunch of 7-5 and 8-4 Florida and AM teams because we got into shootouts with a bad defense.

Watch the video. He tries not to laugh when talking about the Jayden thing and he says "they told me they wouldn't use it again, but they might you never know"
He doesn't care at all. Like any normal grown man.
Jayden has put himself in an insane spot where now LSU fans are furious at him, commanders fans on their Reddit are pissed that he's worried about this and other players are laughing at him.
He better return to his rookie form this year and stop getting hurt constantly.

Yep. Different coach when he left LSU. Everything is different now. In fact, Woodward had just been hired before the 2019 season.
