re: Golf destination trips - mikedatyger
Bandon is cool and like craft beer, but there are a lot better courses to play.
???? Gonna have to disagree on that one. No I have not been to Dunes Club. I know someone who has played both. Bandon Courses MUCH better....

re: Pre-round putting routine - mikedatyger
How do y'all structure your putting warmup?
To test green speed, find a long flat spot. set up and roll several putts using "a normal" stroke. Pace off the distance to get an idea of stroke length and green speed. It usually works out to 8-9 paces for me, on an average course. Saw th...

re: Golf destination trips - mikedatyger
I work with the guys at Plugged in Golf. Was fortunate enough to go there twice with the PIG guys. I could be the spokesperson for this place. I LOVE IT. I told my family that I wanted my ashes sprinkled there when I leave this place. Totally serious. Here are some links to get a better idea ... ...

re: Golf destination trips - mikedatyger
I've been to Bandon twice. You will not find package deals for it. It is what it is, but IT IS AMAZING! Best golf experience you will ever have. Nothing but golf. Get in shape. 36 holes a day. No carts. Great food. Great people. AMAZING golf. Getting there can be a pain, but it is well worth it. I...

Fairways Hit Drinking Game - mikedatyger
I'd be snockered by now for sure. Wow, it must really be a killer course. So many missed fairways. Phil is TERRIBLE today. Paul Casey just hit two of the worst shots I've seen a pro make in a long time. Enjoying the carnage....

re: US Open Anchor Sites - mikedatyger
Pacific Dunes would be worth trying.
I asked the guys at Bandon and the common thought is that there are not enough hotels and infrastructure to host a major PGA event. Would love to see them play the courses there, but I don't think it will ever happen....

re: US Open Anchor Sites - mikedatyger
It's just me, but I do not like seeing/playing Majors on regular tour locales - Pebble, Torey Pines, etc. There are enough great courses out there that can be explored without revisiting the regular tour sites. Show the pros a new challenge. Wouldn't you love to see a Major at Pine Valley? ...

re: Logo Madness (BR edition) - mikedatyger
Golf course logos are notoriously bad, especially the older / classic courses. Exceptions to the rule, but usually very bad. I'm a graphic designer, so I do notice and pay attention to all logos. Just Google "best golf course logos," really disappointing. Pine Valley, one of the highest ranked an...
