Saturday nights on PBS

YES! Thank you. Toby Charles. Wow, a blast from the past.

New Casuals

Not a new casual. Been a longtime casual since the first iteration of the NASL, when Pele was at the Cosmos. They used to show the Bundesliga replays on Saturday afternoons (I think). Franz Beckenbauer was a beast.

Yes. Flopping. Embarrassing. Hate it.

Style of play

Not a hard core follower, but have noticed a “trend” in styles of play. Is it typical that the European-bloc teams tend to be defense first? I remember the Dutch being more aggressive in the day. Germany have their moments.
Austria, Belgium, Croatia, B&H, do not seem offensive minded.
Am I missing it? Insights on the games welcome, thank you!

THE worst. Think Alabama entitlement.

You honestly don’t think it matters around the green? Nitro vs ProV1x?

I know what you are saying, BUT learned how to play golf 50 years ago with hand-me-down, off-the-shelf Spaulding irons and persimmon woods.
Played a Top Flight golf ball, because there were not a lot of affordable options, and I was a beginner.
Went from a first timer to a 10 handicap in 2 years.
MAYBE I would have even better scores with a a softer ball but It's still all about making the shot with a good swing.
IMO, the ball only matters at a certain level – players that can create spin (low handicap players).
Currently a 9.1 and play Maxfli Tour X balls.

Where to get fitted?

Golf Galaxy
Club Champion
PGA Superstore
Some local Golf Clubs have PGA fitters on site
In my experience, some GolfTec studios have a tendency to up-sell you lesson packages and the like, so be leery of that.

Like others have said, you are probably not going to see the distance increases that you are hoping for, but they can reign in your dispersion.
For distance increases, you will need to work on YOU. Golf specific strength training and swing speed work will get you there.
I used/use Shotscope tags and watch. I had no problem with it at all. They tweaked the website / interface and I do NOT like the changes they made.
Harder for me to find and get the data I want. I wear a watch anyway, so that is not a new feeling that disrupts my swing.
I’m not a big techie person, so I do not do big dives into the apps. :(

Another small annoyance is that they do not have an adapter for putter tags for the metal counterbalanced end caps that SuperStroke uses. Arrcos does.
Reached out to SS and they had not answer.

Chose it over Arrcos because you get same data and do not need a subscription.
If you do not like carrying your phone, wearing a watch, or clipping the Arrcos reader to your belt, I’m not sure what options you have.
Carry a portable launch monitor with you?

Any other suggestions ?

The Maxfli Tour S has very good buzz. MGS liked them a lot. Had great numbers. I still play the Maxfli Tour X.
The bounce is what gets me.
I went with Edison Wedges as they have more player friendly bounce and "multi-plane" sole.
1 from UGA and 2 from UF
Would love 2 and 2,

Interesting. Too hard? Too soft? Have you tried all 3 Tour models?
The Tour S has REALLY good reviews.
I like the feel of the Tour, but I get better response from the Tour X.
Have not tried the Tour S.

Yes. Next to the Belle Chase bridge and the canal

Okay, I have played that one. Just did not remember the name.
Only remember a few of the holes. I do remember one of the levee holes.

Was that the course by the belle chase tunnel and industrial canal?
Wow this thread is a stroll down memory lane. Good times.

Wow, that's a blast from the past. I had forgotten about that one.
Living on the West Bank, I would play Brechtel over that one for sure.
