I hardly watch the nfl anymore and the way they are RUINING COLLEGE FOOTBALL, I MIGHT DO THE SAME, NO MORE SHIRTS NO MORE MONEY SPENT! 24 teams in football is SAF ??
The NHL beckons, my fellow poster. They are the only pro athletes left that leave it all out there in search of a title every year.

If we're at this stage already, we might as well separate G6 and G4 completely and stop pretending it is the same level.
No one wants to see more G6 schools take up more spots and get splattered.

It’s happening but it’ll take some time. The NIL OP is almost complete.

Why stop at 24? There's all that TV and Streaming money to be made. Just keep going... ridiculous.

I don’t love 24, but there was a distinguished line last year at 14/16 that would’ve made for a better playoff.
If we have to let teams like Tulane in where we all knew they were going to get blown out, the first round would’ve been way better if UT, Vandy, and ND were there last year.
And I know everyone hates ND but the playoffs were missing stars like Jeremiah Love and Diego Pavia.

That’s potentially a 17 games season for a 9-24 seed who makes it to the championship game. 16 for a 1-8 seed. Absurd for college. Teams are already banged up, this could get ugly and lead to draft eligible players sitting out.

Soccer soon to become America’s favorite futboll.

If they do this the SEC should get rid of the championship game. That would be a 17 game season with playoffs, for the two finals teams.

I know this wont be a popular opinion on here, but I’d like to actually see LSU win a national championship in football somewhere other than New Orleans. They’ve won all 3 since 2000 in New Orleans. I want to see LSU win it in Pasadena in the Rose Bowl or even the Orange Bowl. Just somewhere different for a change. But we can’t control the fact that LSU is always average whenever the national championship game is played elsewhere.

Glad to see it. And at programs like LSU, a coach could get fired for: “he hasn’t gotten us deep in the playoffs the last five years.”

Why not 48?
Imagine tyring to figure out whose 24th best vs. 25th best.

This won’t be “the best teams in college football” competing. It is going to be a lot of mid major bowl teams just there to generate space for TV and ad revenue.
That is 100% completely made up by you, just to try to make your point. You don't know that this will be the case AT ALL, yet you are assuming it because it pushes your narrative forward.

24 team playoff for no conference championship games and the playoffs starting no later than the 2nd Saturday in December with the next round played the next Saturday.
Conf. champ games are pointless and two weeks between rounds with the champ game the last Monday in January is absolute lunacy.
But it will not work out that way im sure.
But now you are giving guaranteed spots to whoever had the easiest in conference schedules. The championship game helped to make sure that didn't happen. Think UT's first year in the SEC. They would have earned the first round bye that year had they not had to play UGA who was the better team. The byes also already seem to hurt most of the top 4 both seasons this has gone on.
Cap it at 16 with no byes, and that, while still diluted, makes more sense.

Just for the sake of argument, let's use the current AP Top 25.
#24 SMU @ #9 Ole Miss - Winner @ #8 BYU
#23 Boise St @ #10 TT - Winner @ #7 - Texas
#22 LSU @ #11 Utah - Winner @#6 Alabama
#21 Wake Forest @#12 UCLA - Winner @#5 Indiana
#20 Houston @ #13 Mizzou - Winner @ #4 Ohio St.
#19 USC @ #14 Tennessee - Winner @ # 3 Miami
#18 Okie St @ #15 Kentucky - Winner @ #2 ND
#17 Iowa @ #16 Miss St - Winner @ #1 UGA
Explain to me what about this seems terrible.
