As he has 4 alone on this years team lol. frick that guy. I’m so ready for him to retire.

Of course the problem looks worse to you if you keep over exaggerating. Leatherwood is the only possible 2020 first rounder that went back and was healthy. It’s unlikely Moses goes first with his injury and Smith and Harris weren’t first rounders last year

This is also a pretty rare year.
For the most part Saban doesn’t have seniors going on the first. Like 3 in the last 5 drafts.

I mentioned that in a thread after Marshall pulled out, quit on his team! And I mentioned Devonta Smith and Najee Harris but forgot Leatherwood. Those are 3 first round talents and they stayed yet we have guys leaving early to get drafted in the 5-6th rounds or not get drafted.
After seeing our team completely melt away from last years early departures to the cowards opting out (quitting on team!) and the transfers, then the business decision bullshite, then the late business decision bullshite, etc.
LSU cannot compete at this rate nor stay a national power, but Bama has my respect now because they keep FIRST ROUND TALENT to come back for their senior years...Very Impressive!!

I used to do a tv show that followed elite recruits during their senior year of high school. As a result, I got to know a lot of kids/families who ended up signing with Bama and LSU.
I dont want to talk bad about the recruits we sign, but from what I saw on average Bama kids seem more mature and more well rounded. From my perspective, a lot Bama recruits have that feel of someone who will be successful in life with or without football and LSU recruits give off a vibe where football better work out.
No idea if this why our players leave ASAP.

GOAT COACH vs. Shrimp boat captain that caught lightning in a bottle
Hoe do you think that plays out?

Smith probably would’ve been the 7-9th WR drafted. Higgins went #33 and he wasn’t going before him.
Same thing for Najee. He wasn’t going ahead of Clyde, Taylor, Swift (lol), or Dobbins - would’ve been a late 2nd at best.

It might be because most of our fans have supported the "let them all leave early; it is a business decision." Most of the fans on this forum have ripped those of us who believe that this selfish attitude hurts the program. If a player has his degree, I can understand leaving. If a player is going to be a very high draft pick, I can understand their leaving. Some of our guys leave, because they have been told it is the "cool" thing to do. The NCAA can stop the opting out crap when the COVID situation clears up.

This school pride thing people like to attribute to Bamas program is a myth. Theres no such thing at this level of college football anymore. They are offering or guaranteeing something that carries as much weight as being a 1st-2nd round pick. I dont think its cash equivalent per say but something with the same weight. Being a 1st round pick is the pinnacle of college football and with the consistency Bama defies that doesnt make any sense.
I should mention Im only talking about 100% guaranteed 1st rd picks. Not the guys right on the cusp.

Bama pays almost as much as the NFL, and has more young women.

Being the first player drafted at your position carries a lot more weight than it used to with the way rookie contracts are structured. A bunch of middle-aged, obese guys can pound their chests about college kids not having heart, character or pride until they get bruised sternums, but they ain't changing shite

Can you list all of the LSU players that left early last year that were the first player drafted at their position? I can’t think of a single one (Burrow didn’t leave early).

the LSU process is to be legit title contenders about twice a decade. outback bowl level games sprinkled around with the occasional new years 6.

Cool. I promise to not say anything negative about him leaving early, and I never have.

Bama is paying them more to stay. That’s the simple answer and likely the correct one. Both teams get the same type of players. But LSU sells them on leaving after 3 years, and doesn’t do enough to keep them here. Bama makes sure they feel “comfortable” that last year and sets them up to increase their draft positions
