Drug testing policy is one reason. Hanny talked about this in post game on Saturday...and he isn’t wrong

This x1000. We get players kicked off the team left and right for smoking in their own time. While Bama gets guys caught with a pound of marijuana and stolen guns and they don’t even get suspended and start playing immediately.

How in the flying frick is that possible? Good god do we need to change our stands on weed.

Every player is different. Comparing two totally different players from totally different situations is a fool's errand.

Bama has a better "process" than LSU

To be fair it has been in place for 15 years .

O has been there three years.

Lets give it 5 years and see how the classes balance out.

Saban won't be there a lot longer and the top of the SEC hill will be wide open to Georgia, Florida, Auburn, LSU, maybe Tennessee or A&M. The rest are rarely contenders , likely pretenders.

the LSU process is to be legit title contenders about twice a decade. outback bowl level games sprinkled around with the occasional new years 6.

Nail on the head!!! That is all we will ever be!

I agree that Ruggs might not be as good as those players listed, but Ruggs was still the 1st receiver taken in last years draft at 12, ahead of Jeudy at 15.

Juedy Lamb Ruggs were the consensus top 3, then Jefferson Reagor, Aiyuk Higgins and Pittman all went in the top 34 picks, i seriously doubt Smith goes over any of those guys last year

It’s in the fine print whenever you purchase a Dodge Charger.

You could make a good case for Saahdiq Charles. He was really underrated.

Harris for sure. Always pretty shocking when a high profile RB stays 4 years. Etienne also

We have some pretty good theories in this thread, but why so many complaints about players leaving early? Fans were overwhelmingly in support of Chase when he opted out. Most seem to be in support of Marshall quitting with three games left. Maybe both the program and fans expect more at Alabama.

Saban offers a 4 year process. You stay with him for 4 and you'll be the best at your position + have a degree for mom and dad. LSU is a 3 and out system. Get in and out fast. Fine dining vs fast food

The pot thing at LSU is such an issue, just getting rid of studs left and right

While I respect his decision, imo Chase should have played this year with his brothers and for this team when he knew we were breaking in a new QB. If he was so worried about injury, then take out an insurance policy.

In regards to Marshall, that was quitting on your team and I don’t support it at all. You don’t call a players only meeting to rally the troops only to quit the week before the biggest game of the year. That is lame as frick. At least Chase did it before the season started but I don’t agree with either decision.

plyaing with a new qb and the tj/max combo would have only hurt chase's stock. he made the smart move.

NFLSU is a good point, but it's not like Bammer isn't putting more first rounders or players overall in the NFL too.

If O ever wants to be on the level of Bama, OSU and Clemson then he will start having to do the same. He acts like it’s or the other. If you develop your players and coach them well for 4 years, they will get to the nfl and probably be drafted as high as possible.

You’re right. But the LSU Twitter account going nuts with NFLSU hashtags the day after getting beat by Missouri show where the priorities are.

Wat? He fell off in the second half and Chaisson beat him quite a bit in the LSU game. Considering Chaisson was a fellow top pick, that showed hot scouts that he still had a lot of work to do--especially with speed rushers.

He likely received an late-first or early second round grade and was told that he could work into an early first if he came back.

Like others have said, Leatherwood made sense. Smith and Harris did not.

Because by in large Bama recruits better kids. Saban doesn’t just recruit talent based on stars by their names, he recruits total potential in that the kid is dedicated and team oriented. Now of course not all his players are but compare them to ours and it’s clear the difference. Another good contrast is comparing our players impact at the next level. For all Bamas winning at the college level LSU puts out as many or more NFL stars and elite players so why don’t we have more success at the college level? It’s because we recruit self interest guys and talent only. Bama doesn’t have a Whitworth or even a Collins NFL level lineman, they don’t have any perineal pro bowl Olineman but they always have a top 3-5 oline in college. Yes coaching is a part of that but player commitment to team is just as important.
