Any answer other than money is the wrong answer. Anyone saying otherwise is fooling themselves:

As for D Smith he was viewed as the #3 or 4 WR on his own team last year and last year was a LOADED Wr draft.

Juedy is the only one who was better. I don’t care about Ruggs’ speed, Smith is flat out better same can be said about Waddle.

All you have to do is look at this year and last. Dude just set the SEC record for receiving touchdowns. At worst he would have been a mid 2nd round pick last year.

Bama had 6 underclassmen go pro last year

What did they not sell them?

I’m saying they aren’t staying for a ring or to finish anything without money being involved.

I don't really care what you care about Who was the first WR drafted last year? And even if you say that's just the Raiders, Ruggs was a consensus top 3 WR last year.

i would say at best he's would have been in that range, that's where Claypool and Shenault went however, i would not have blamed him if he did leave. 2nd/3rd round is still life changing money and gets you closer to the 2nd contract

Drug testing policy is one reason. Hanny talked about this in post game on Saturday...and he isn’t wrong.

Howd they get Devonta Smith to return instead of making a "business decision"?

That was a business decision. No one was mentioning him as a first rounder last year.

HBO hard knocks New York Jets. The team had a nice joke going around about why Joe McKnight was not into it. “Joe is just mad because he took a pay cut leaving USC for the league.”

Bama’s process is not just player development. There is a process in every organization from players, coaches, administration, and boosters. Winning football championships is all that matters.

Wasn’t Saadiq basically on his last chance regarding weed? Probably not a bad decision to leave and end up going 4th round. His stock wouldn’t have improved too much on this team plus if he did end up getting dismissed it would’ve sunk.

All of these kids are making a business decision. Their boosters are absolutely pooling their money and paying these kids enough money to keep them in school, anyone who thinks athletes in 2020 are turning down millions to do good ole Alabama a solid and play another year is crazy

What do you think Alabama is selling kids?

They’re just telling them they should be first rounders not just drafted.

The kids listen to and respect Saban.

If Saban tells them they need to come back, they'll probably listen. Saban talks about the "process" and becoming a better player and person in the context of a team.

LSU sells the NFL, and promotes individualism and personal success. We have nothing close to the type of team culture and atmosphere that Saban has established at Alabama (or even Dabo at Clemson).

I agree that Ruggs might not be as good as those players listed, but Ruggs was still the 1st receiver taken in last years draft at 12, ahead of Jeudy at 15.

There is no chance that Smith goes ahead of either in the draft last year and there was a very high chance that he would have dropped out of the 1st round last year. At one point I think mock drafts had up to 6 WR graded with 1st round talent last year.

This year, he is almost certainly going to be one of the first 3 WR off the board and probably in the top half of the first.
