So a regular season girls basketball game basically drew as many viewers as college baseball biggest stage .
outside of a few schools, no one watches college baseball
quote:

Who cares. It's basketball. We are a baseball and football school....and it's baseball season.
with the exception of only a few schools, no one cares about college baseball.

Now sure, I love that LSU is an elite baseball school and want us to win every year, but in the broad scheme of things, baseball is a minor sport.

What is the purpose of the raised black wall behind center field?
surely you can't be serious.
quote:

It is fairly subtle on the FB and BB jerseys. It stands out too much on the purple BB uni. I don't like this crap at all, but at least it isn't too obnoxious.
the issue isn't that the patch is subtle.

The issue is that the patch exists.

silly voter polls are irrelevant, especially very early in the season with almost no data points.

The regular season SEC championship is determined by record, the SEC Tournament is determined on the field, and the National Championship is determined by a playoff.

Ignore all silly voter polls, which are a relic from decades ago.

So a patch makes LSU baseball a clown show. What are you posting for?
no, but we've already capitulated by putting a horrific corporate logo on the sacred Tiger Stadium field. We have a corporate logo on our basketball court, and now a patch on our football uniform.

It's just a matter of time before we sell the naming rights to Tiger Stadium and other venues. And more field ads and uniform patches are coming.

If that doesn't bother you, then you and just feel very differently about what college sports should be.

At least it isn’t completely distracting I guess
slippery slope. If you think that's going to be the only patch, get ready for more.

And the on-field corporate advertisement on the 25 yard lines is sickening.

The sell-out continues...
and college sports' descent continues...
I love Burns, but he really played poorly on the last 2 holes yesterday. Bogey on 17 and then hit iron off the tee on the par 5 18th when he needed a chance at eagle. Even the TV commentators criticized him for that decision.

But I do love Sam.
quote:

Love her or hate her, she is the best at fielding a very talented team in the most competitive conferences in the country year after year.
I'm not a fan of Dawn, but this is another situation where, if she was our coach, we'd love her.
quote:

She has one 4 national championships, including one at LSU. She knows what she’s doing.
even hugely successful coaches aren't infallible - they make mistakes too.

I'm not specifically commenting on Kim last night - just saying that it's absurd to say because Kim has won a bunch of championships that she never makes an error.
I honestly think i’ve watched less than 30 minutes all season. Mostly due to McMahon being awful, but also due to the portal and NIL where I don’t even know our roster.

College sports is broken.
quote:

Where would you rank Woodward amongst LSU AD’s all time?
baseball and WBB are minor sports - it's all about football and, to a far lesser extent, MBB.

And Woodward failed miserably on both hires, with awful long-term contracts.

He didn't learn a thing from his atrocious Jimbo contract at A&M. Woodward was a terrible failure here.
quote:

Louisiana took a huge loss tonight
it’s the NFL. Has nothing to do with LSU.
quote:

It would seem like after so many 3 win conference seasons you'd leave on your own accord
and forfeit the millions on the rest of his contract? Are you serious?
quote:

CKM has never been in this situation before and has no clue what she is doing and needs saturncube21 to guide her and tell her what she needs to do to correct this.

Fricking idiot
you do realize that even hugely successful coaches have flaws, and make mistakes?

Mulkey isn't infallible and it's fair to offer legit criticism.

cam Thomas is terrible. high volume scorer, does basically nothing else for the team. horrible D, no assists, no boards, no steals or really any other value.
when he was at LSU, I checked his stats and among the top 100 scorers in the country, he was something like 95 in shooting percentage.

So yes, he scored a lot, but was very inefficient doing it. And his D isn't good.

Not a good combo.

Chambliss will get his TRO from the MS state court and will play for Ole Miss this year.
shouldn't he go pro now? His draftability will never be higher. Sure, he'll get paid a lot to play another year in college, but the NFL contract will be a lot more.

The difference between pro and college ball was the emotional connection to the players and the university.
quote:

The bottom line is you (and I) cheer for the "colors". It doesn't matter who is wearing those colors in that particular year. If they are playing in an LSU uniform you are going to cheer for them...because you are an LSU fan, not a (insert player) fan. You are only a fan of the player BECAUSE he is wearing an LSU uniform...not a fan of LSU because LSU is the team that player happens to play for at the time. The "names" have always changed. The brand/program hasn't.
I agree, I'm a fan of LSU and not necessarily any particular player. I cheer for the purple and gold.

But knowing the players, especially when they've been here awhile, adds to my emotional attachment to the team. Seeing mostly new guys every year, who are only here for the money, and knowing most will leave next year, lessens my attachment to the team, even if they're wearing P&G.
quote:

It feels very pay-for-play and hollow, like the NFL. It's not as interesting or unique of a product as it used to be.
correct.

The difference between pro and college ball was the emotional connection to the players and the university. And of course the pageantry.

But with players jumping from team to team every year, that emotional connection is gone. They're just mercenaries.

"Hollow" is the perfect word for it.

We already have a pro league (which I don't watch). We don't need another.
