Reads like he was let go. Nola.com/ the Times Picayune may well be struggling and it should be. An organization that seems out of touch with its local readers and losing more everyday to the Advocate needs to cut back. He could be a casualty.

Ha ha I just got an alert he started following Alabama football and thought Jimmy Smith to Bama?

He then deleted the tweet and someone posted that he got a job offer for beat recruiting for BAMA.

Interesting

I'd gladly take him as football head coach over the one we currently have.

Don't ever let it go.

Nola/TP has been bleeding for years and won't be surprised if it doesn't exist in 10 years.

Way to inject politics into every segment of your life.
Must be sad, and I'm 100% certain you're a blast to be around.

I like Jimmy. Respected his insight. But people acting like he effects recruiting at any school are funny.

Sounds like someone tired of the lame games recruits play.

He was a pretty reliable conduit between recruits in South Florida and later NOLA and South LA for LSU. Understand that there are many times and situations when a coach cannot be in contact with a recruit, but a journalist can.
I’m a little concerned that Clemson or Alabama may take advantage of his connections and sway in these two areas. Not wanting a shite storm over this, but the Special Assistant to the Head Football Coach at the university James aided the most felt threatened by James’ relationships. Odd coming from a former Agent Runner.

I too am worried that someone has identified an opportunity that simultaneously removes a resource from us and adds to theirs.

The timing, in context, is likely not coincidental.

It's kinda obvious to me. And I hated Miles' buddies, but that territorial-ism type shite really pisses me off. Even more if it's just grudges.

Jimbo gets Brewster; Saban gets Williams/Burns. We get this shite.

Saban just got arguably the best DL coach in the country today. We have Mearbsll.
I encourage everyone to read Meat Market. It’s a view of what’s going on here now. Ed is doing the exact same thing he did at Ole Miss, except it’s a helluva lot easier to recruit here and Aranda is elite.
