I just looked through your Alpha AI program bud. Doesn't look like any teachers are replaced, but nice try. Also, you can attend for the low, low price of $40,000 per year!

Gtfo. AI isn't replacing teachers any time soon. Newman would blush at that tuition.
I dunno what the answer is, but I watched the highlights on wheels and it made be think ever paying for that would be a waste of time. The camera guy didn't know where to go on occasion, missed important moments, and camera that looked like it was in a hurricane at some points.
This also misses out on one of the most important elements of school, socialization. We already saw what isolation does during Covid. I have no clue why people would even consider homeschooling. The social education your child misses out on by staying at home and not interacting is very important.
So every family will need to have one parent not work so they can stay at home with their kid for 3 hours a day? Awesome!

in the end AI is coming for teaching anyways. Already showing its much better at teaching with the success of the alpha program.

Oh yeah you can drop off your kid to a computer and say good luck, see you in 8 hours? Lol you have not clue what you are talking about.

D1 baseball should be disallowed from showing games again. I totally hate it.

Was that a bona fide move?

I realize that some are obviously taking advantage of the transfer, but a kid could legitimately move several times through his/her high school career. Districts should matter. If you live in the district and your parents/guardians can prove that, then there shouldn't be any restriction for a transfer.
This won't apply to private school because one could literally attend a private school the next parish or two over if he wanted to. Or several states over, ie. IMG Academy.

I'll be honest I'm not 100 percent sure if we are on the same page, but it's already the case that bona fide moves allow kids to be eligible. A kid can transfer to any private school as it is if they allow the transfer, but if they aren't in their public district they are ineligible.
quote:

again....why do you care if he feels another place is a better fit for him?

For the billionth time, this push does NOTHING to open up educational opportunities for a kid. There will be NO difference in what schools a kid can attend. It will ONLY be used for sporting reasons. I can't see how anyone can look at college sports and say, "That's what I want for sports for minors!"
quote:

why would i give a frick what most of them want? why would that affect my opinion on something especially when they are like you and being emotional about it

and wtf does college have to do with anything? are you thinking the schools are going to start offering NIL deals? and you say college is so bad yet the viewership is higher than ever. More teams than ever have a chance to win...i mean Indiana just won for god sakes. literally 2 years ago they were the worst program of all time. now they win an NC.

so explain how this is bad again?

Dude, you're just an angry dude who is intellectually dishonest. Your downvote ratio says enough. No one likes what you're saying, or agrees with you. I mean, when your argument is "Look at the team funded by Mark Cuban, that could you!" it's obvious your grasp of the situation is infantile.
quote:

Even most of the selects are against this

Everyone is against it because even the ones who will benefit the most know they'll also lose kids too, and no one wants to deal with all the extra work. Look at the colleges having to cycle through 50 percent of their team each year. It get's tiring. The city schools know it'll affect them the most.

AI isn’t some godsend to free Hollywood from wokeness; it is the ultimate form of fat, lazy, soulless creation.

That is so short-sighted. I'm sure thespians said the same thing about the moving pictures when it first came out. It will still take a very skilled person to create a shot and a consistent, cohesive, and compelling narrative. Now that will be open to many more artists. I just don't get all this stanning for the TV/Movie industry that has repeatedly shown it sucks over the past 20 years without barely any new creative direction and the rise of preaching agendas in the media. This is going to be a great way to tell Hollywood, adapt or die. This is literally the foundation of capitalism.

quote:

Because it was a lot easier to let someone else learn the skills, then someone else write the code to learn from those people, instead of putting in any of the work themselves.

Are you telling me that every single person who uses technology is lazy because they can't code the technology they use? And why are we crying for coders and tech giants who are literally making money hand over fist?
quote:

If they have not made contributions on the varsity field and they are in their junior year, why not let them transfer to a school they believe to be less talented and have at least one full year of contribution and get some reward for their hard work on and off the field?

They can already do that. I'm so confused why people think you can't transfer already. There are also plenty of ways to be eligible immediately. Is there a hardship? Did you make a bona fide move? Did you change from a school that is out of district to one that is in district? Because a few kids who thought they were better than they really were (honestly it's probably the bonehead parents that can't evaluate their kids talent and tell them they are a stud), we need to change the whole system? Do you even watch what's happening to college football? You want that at the high school level? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
quote:

i think its a great idea...you dont own the kids abilities because of where they were born. sorry compete if you want the kid to stay

Kids can already go to any orivate school that allows them in, and any public school that they are districted for. If you want to go to a different public school, then you have to move. I'm seeing a lot of people confused by this. The state can't force a school district to take out of district kids, and some have already said they won't take kids from out of the district.

Because of this, there will be no ending of the split. It's only going to get worse. Schools that don't accept transfers are going to be at an even bigger disadvantage. Why won't they accept transfers in? Because it's local tax money paying for the education. Kids from outside the district don't pay those taxes. It's unfair to the tax base to allow kids who don't pay taxes to come in and tax spots away from those who do. This whole thing is poorly thought out.
It's next Thursday if you are talking about the LHSAA vote. FWIW, I emailed my government rep and complained about this. This is a waste of tax dollars and shouldn't have any government intervention. The sport will be worse off for this, just like college sports. And this is literally only about sports, it doesn't have anything to do with academics. If you want to go to a better academic school, you can already do so, you just may have to sit out a year. This is exclusively about sports. It's going to be all fun and games until you have a kid who had an important starter or three on their team bail on the squad and you know that seriously affects how your kids team will be able to do in the playoffs. You won't be so excited when good coaches just straight up quit than have to recruit their own squads back to their team each year. It's not cute, and it's going to be the cause of a direct drop in competitiveness in the high school ranks

All these companies dumped money on the meta verse, that was going to be the future with all the headsets. Almost 100 billion wasted for something very few used ever used...

Sounds familiar

If you look at it that way, we should have never spent money on the space program because we didn't get anything out of it. Instead, we have tons of tech advances from the space program.
quote:

Computer generated wish fulfillment is not progress.

Oh God you people are insufferable. AI isn't progress? We've literally been talking about this in Sci Fi circles for almost 100 years. We've been progressing toward this period for a long time. Sorry it caught you off guard.
See thats what I'm expecting as time goes on. Almost all the crap people are saying about AI not being as good as a human director and actors is silly. First, there will be a lot of crap obviousy, but theres also a lot of crappy tv shows and local plays most people don't watch either. When you get good, talented people, which I think at this point is just a few months away, you'd be able to produce a move in a few days that would have taken months on a budget of less than 1k vs 300 million. And guess what? People will want to watch it if you capture their attention.

None of the people worried about losing their jobs actually care about progress, they only want to complain because it affects them. No one in their right mind would want to keep around people from the equestrian industry at the advent of cars just because they feel bad that they lost their jobs. The future is here. Quit fighting it, you'll only get yourself behind. Pivot now in the new industry and get ahead of the curve so you can be one of the ones who will have a job in entertainment in the future.

Is that why Jake Paul is famous? Your statement lacks credence.

Reality TV isn't my cup of tea either, but are you going to say it isn't a successful genre?

quote:

Wait until "IP" includes the face of one of your children and no one has passed anything to prevent it or punish people for doing it.

I don't even know what this means. If it was within the US, and someone was selling it, you could definitely go after it. If it's outside the US, especially from China or Russia, I already couldn't go after them so I'm not sure what the difference would be?

quote:

Okay? Less money going into the economy. Just ask Georgia how much they've benefitted financially for incentivizing shows and movies to be made there.

The amount of money doesn't change because movies exist. Money will get spent regardless, just in different places.

quote:

Whooptie-shite.

Ok? I'd be excited to watch a better ending.

quote:

It's not "amazing". Yes, it will likely change the industry, but not in a positive way. Imagine a world where the next John Williams or Hans Zimmer is slinging fries because everyone thought AI music was "just as good." Consider that as well - movies won't be the only thing that gets pushed aside by corporations wanting to not have to pay people. Music is definitely on that list as well.

The technology is definitely amazing. The atom bomb is amazing. Just because it's destructive doesn't mean it isn't amazing. You're getting super upset. I imagine you're close to TV industry and you know you might not have a job much longer.

quote:

This is a weird take considering your opinion is based on the actions and opinions of maybe a percentage of a percentage. SAG has over 170,000 registered members - and you're wanting them all to lose their jobs because of a few dozen got in front of people at an awards show and said things you didn't like?

How many of those SAG members make all their money from the industry? A ton hold down other jobs to act. They won't be losing the bulk of their income.

quote:

Do you apply this level of "scorched earth" to every profession? Do you think every waiter should be fired because one was rude to you? Every mechanic let go because screwed up the repair on your car?

There's a big difference there, and you know it. The restaurant and mechanic industry isn't controlled by 5 major studios.

With what I'm seeing with Seedance 2.0, my thoughts are this:

- Good AI movies and shows will rise to the top on sites like YouTube, just look good streamers already rise to the top over bad ones.

- We're going to see some serious challenges to IP laws, but at the end of the day that's going to work out about as well as trying to stop people from finding streaming sites to watch anything they want anyway.

- This is going to slash major movie budgets as there will be no reason to undertake risky or highly costly scenes.

- We're going to get so many new Game of Thrones endings within the next year

- People who say this type of technology won't change the industry and the world live with their head in the sand. I already don't believe a single thing I see on Facebook or Instagram. It's going to be soon where I don't believe anything I see on the news either. This technology is amazing.

ETA: We're going to be getting rid of real TV/movie actors very soon and honestly it couldn't have happened to a more deserving group.
That was an amazing rendition of that song. Kids got pipes.
