His 3 pt shooting is awesome for a big man. He’s averaging those totals too in back up minutes. Tel Aviv is one of the best teams in the Euroleague

I think he is going to come in as a backup and play pick and pop for a 3.

He was making $1.4-$1.5M on his contract per year

Euro players get tons of other benefits.
A lot of times they are making money tax free, as well as agent fee free. The team will pay the taxes and the agent, so when they agree to $1.5M, they take home $1.5M.
They also typically get living expenses paid, house, car, insurance, etc.

That $1.5M he was making in Europe is probably equivalent to $3-4M in the US.

I don't think the average CBB fan understands how good the Euroleague is.

I’m not as worried about the other stats, but he’s got to clean up his defense and problem with fouls. Otherwise he won’t be getting many more minutes than what he’s been getting in Europe

CWW said he brought in (partially) Coach Jay Smith as player development because he has a track record of developing and improving bigs. I think we need to consider the fact that some of these players are coming for money, but some of them also want to get some development to showcase their talents for NBA scouts who can easily see them play in arenas all over the south.

Anybody else have knowledge of Coach Jay Smith's track record?

His most recent job of note was being on the Michigan staff from 19-24. During that time Michigan had the following big men on the team at various points:

Franz Wagner - No. 8 pick in 2021 draft
Hunter Dickinson - 2x All Big 10 and 1x All American (before transferring to Kansas)
Moussa Diabate - played one year at Mich before being drafted by Charlotte.
Tarris Reed - at Michigan for 2 years before transferring to UConn where he was a All Big East player this year.

Thank you. I doubt people were dancing in the streets when Wade found Tari Eason averaging 7 points a game at Cincinnati.

Wade is a great evaluator of talent and sure seems confident we’re going to be a good team. Works for me.

This guy is a great pickup. 6'9" 250 Euroleague Stretch Forward who can shoot and finish strong around the basket.

I assume he'll start at the 4 position and that we've got a few other bigs in the bag that are the shot blockers and rebounders.

We only have three guys so far but they all appear to be solid.

Looking forward to more announcements.

Okay, thanks for proving my point. “A few of us were excited”. I liked him too, because hey, I’m not retarded and know Pear is an excellent coach

Oh stop with the hyperbole. Eason was completely under the radar and a huge credit to Wade’s attention to detail.

Eason would’ve been a top 30 transfer if it were ranked then like it is now. The recruiting services just weren’t caught up on the analytics softwares coaches were using when Tari transferred.

Where did you read this? What is this based on? From what I can recall he was a huge diamond in the rough. Don’t even remember LSU fighting any top programs for Eason.

Eason was the #1 player out of WA, a 4-star Top 125 recruit. He got buried in the depth chart at Cincinnati. Wade said they were using him all wrong and that his analysis showed Eason would thrive in his system. He was right.

A top 125 player who was buried on the depth chart at Cincinnati is not generally a top 30 portal recruit but okay

Check out Sananda Fru this year. A freshman who averaged 9 and 6 but regarded as a top portal player because of analytics
