I need to have my hot water heater replaced. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

The real question is why do you want to spend money heating water thats already hot?

I'd DIY unless you have some major replumbing you're wanting to redo for some reason
It's a pretty simple job in most cases.

You have a heater to heat hot water? You must like that shite boiling huh?
It cost a little more, but I use roto rooter just because I can go to their website and schedule them to come out. I had something that happened late at night one time, I went to their website, scheduled them to come out first thing the next morning and 20 mins before they were scheduled to arrive, they called to tell me they were on their way, used them ever since.

I'd try to DIY it.
Seems like water heater installations are insanely expensive for labor.

I'd echo those here who've encouraged you to do it yourself. It's surprisingly easy. I'm no Bob Vila, and I've done it.

To keep it hot, or to make it hotter.
The damn thing is called a hot water heater.

Yeah, I did mine not long ago. I also moved it and installed a laundry room sink. So it got kind of complicated.
But if you are just replacing the heater.
1. Cut off power at breaker. Cut off water.
2. Drain it from bottom with water hose.
3. Disconnect water lines from the top ( they are usually connected with those flex hoses)
4. Unwire.
5. Pull out.
6. Put in new one.
7. Reconnect hoses and power.
8. Turn back on water and power.
Hardest part for me was draining cause the valve for the bottom Drain was stuck/clogged. Had to feed a clothes hanger wire up in it to get it flowing.

Do it yourself. It isn't hard. Use the money you saved to buy beer.

He didn’t say if it’s gas or not.

I mean for any decent plumbing company that doesn't matter.
