I understand. I had a private gym membership along with my LA Fitness membership. It was only $60 a month too. Was in and out in an hour, no waiting. Loved it. Gf goes with me now so LA it is bc I get her in free every time with my membership. In and out in 2 hours now. Smh

The only thing I see at my gym with any regularity is failing to wipe down machinery and equipment.

I’m so thankful I left the public gym world before social media was a thing.

This has to be a troll right?
Girl dumbbells?? Haha. Too light for your big man body right?

I endeavor to not let anything really bug me in the gym. I give myself the margin to recognize that we are all in the gym trying to improve ourselves.
So, the newbs doing things that they don’t know are taboo, the women staging themselves in the squat rack for literally an hour straight doing hip thrusters, the people super setting 3 exercises , etc.. don’t really get me agitated.
This has already been said, but not racking weights is the number 1 sin that pisses me off.
This last item is more of a pet peeve. In the locker room, some dudes don’t have a clue how to undress and shower and get back dressed without strewing their dirty clothes and bags etc.. across a 300 sf area . There are 2 benches per area, and these people treat it like it’s their own personal bathroom .
Be tidy and organized to respect other people needing a little space to undress, shower and change.

I pay $150/month to go to a gym where you don't have to deal with any of this shite.
either do this
or
build a home gym and you will be much happier person
or find an old school bodybuilding gym with no many members and get after it.

There's one of these in Thibodaux that I go to when I head back to visit my dad. Old school cast iron weights. It's total greatness.

Biggest pet peeve is apparently I'm not old enough to dry my balls with the hand dryer without being told something
My 3 biggest have already been mentioned. Not wiping down equipment, not reracking weights, and putting 45s on top of smaller plates when they do rerack.

I've been doing CrossFit for almost 8 full years now, but started going to a Fitness Connection that recently opened very close to the office during my lunch break to do accessory work and bro movements on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays (my office days after RTO on March 1st).
With that said, pretty much everything is a culture shock from the clothing to gym behavior.

Even though chucks are supposed to be great gym shoes or whatever, they still look dumb. Looks like clown shoes.

1. Lack of gym etiquette- Just ask me if you need weights from my rack. Don't wait till I'm in mid-lift and walk up and just take them.
2. Standing/working out in front of the mirror where people have to pass.
3. Gathering around a piece of equipment where only one person is working out and the 5 other dude/bros are cursing up a storm and blocking adjacent equipment.
4. Not picking up your sh#%t.
5. Using the only incline for a two hour flat bench session, when there are eight flat benches around.
6. Playing extremely loud rap music I can hear over my ear buds because the girls hanging out in the office think its cool.
7. Letting your kids play on the equipment.

People who hock a giant loogie into the public water fountain.
Only time I’ve ever gotten into a confrontation at the gym when the guy In front of me did it. Luckily staff was not too far away and heard the commotion and made the guy clean it out or cancel his membership.

This guy gets it. Ive never gone to a gym that had enough racks at certain times. But for the vast majority of times I have one to myself. And if some bashful guy or girl is looking at it like they want to use it? I invite them to use it.

Anything other than squats or deads in the rack is pretty much the same to me
Sorry dude. But I’m doing my OHP in the rack every time. If you want to work in just ask. I’m happy to help load and unload between sets.

A couple (usually) or workout partners using 2 of the same equipment and taking normal rests as opposed to just fricking swapping out each time on 1. I was behind a couple today and they were using the same equipment a set before I was. Added 20 mins to my workout today

I've never walked into my gym and had the plates be in any order on a single piece of equipment. 5 25#, 1 10#, 2 5#, 3 45#, and maybe a 2 1/2 on one bench, while another has only 5 45# plates. I use my time between sets to set up the racks on the equipment I'm moving to next.
