Donovan is probably the guy who rounds out the top four: Spurrier, Tebow, Donovan, E Smith

We don't have to make this a Mt. Rushmore. I don't think there is any real comparison between Donovan and Smith's popularity on campus and among Florida fans to that of Spurrier and Tebow. They're very clearly head and shoulders above everyone else.

I'm no Gator, but I don't see how Spurrier isn't the answer to this question. He and Tebow are the most beloved men in the history of that school. Probably the most clear cut duo of any SEC school save Bama with Bear and Sabear. There really isn't any challenger to their status. Maybe Emmitt Smith? Maybe. But probably not.

So, same exact win loss totals?

also, 1 of those losses in the first 6 games was to the eventual national champion, and the other was to a South Carolina team that was a lot better than their record.

My point is we don't win those games if he doesn't figure out who he has to give the ball. Our first four wins were cupcakes. Our last four weren't.

Wouldn’t Coach O be the ultimate winner of this?

Naa. O had some good seasons even without Burrow.

Chizik:
09 - mediocre
10 - PERFECTION WITH CAM
11 - mediocre
12 - abject dismay

Eaux:
16 - good (6-2 in the games he coached)
17 - okay
18 - good (with Burrow)
19 - PERFECTION WITH BURROW
20 - bad
21 - bad
Dexter McCluster was the only reason we won some games in 2009. Nutt survived, but he had a lot of goodwill going into the 2010 season because of how the 2009 season finished.

Hootie Nutt wasn't giving him the ball at the beginning of the season. He figured out what he had in the middle of the season, and it ended up saving our season.

Here are the stats to prove it.
First six games (4-2 with wins over Memphis, Southeastern Louisiana, Vanderbilt, and UAB)- 38 carries for McCluster
Last seven games (4-2 with wins over Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU, and Oklahoma State)- 143 carries for McCluster

We would absolutely have an all-time level melt and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

you actually bring up a solid point I haven't seen mentioned before. Obviously there's been lots of talk about their declin from saban to now but it's bene mostly either generalities (they suck now) or just win/loss records, which is objective and black and white. But as you hit on, you can also see the slow shift even with saban there that goes something like this:

Mostly kill people/only a few close wins/what minimal losses they are close
-Most of Sabans' whole tenure through 2020

Whoop most people/close wins start to increase in number/losses get a bit bigger
-In 2021 they had narrow single digit escapes against multiple teams they were better than, including one in OT. They had a loss to an unranked team and lost the natty by 15 points
-2022 more close single digit wins, and now multiple regular season losses for the first time in a while
-2023 even more close single digit wins and again multiple losses. First time posting 3 consecutive seasons with at least 2 losses since 2006-2008

Beatings are less frequent/losses increase in frequency/losses increase in severity
-2024 avoided a lot of narrow wins, aside from a head scratcher against SC. There were however 3 regular season losses including one of the worst of this century against vanderbilt. There was a 21 point beatdown against OU, and ended the season with loss #4
-2025 saw 3 losses by at least 2 touchdowns. Of the 4 total losses, half of them were by at least 21 points. 4 wins by single digits, half of which were against unranked teams.

Obviously the deboar era bama isn't close to saban era, but there's actually been a pretty steady and noticeable downswing beginning late in the saban tenure and continuing to get steadily worse up to and including right now.

For the past nearly 40 years, Bama very rarely gets blown out like they did in the Rose Bowl. I think those hoping for that will be greatly disappointed. They also kicked the shite out of teams a ton under Nick Saban, whereas they won a lot of games before he got to Tuscaloosa, but often by closer margins.

I did the research. Here are the times Bama has won by 28+ or lost by 21+ against power teams since 1980:

Power conference 28+ wins from 1980 - 2006 (pre-Saban): 26

Power conference 21+ losses from 1980 2006 (pre-Saban): 6 (37-6 loss to Notre Dame in 1987; 35-0 loss to Florida in 1991; 41-14 loss to Tennessee in 1995; 27-0 loss to LSU in 1997; 42-6 loss to Arkansas in 1998; 38-7 loss to Virginia Tech in 1998)

Power conference 28+ wins from 2007 - 2023 (Saban): 53

Power conference 21+ losses from 2007 - 2023 (Saban): 1 (2018 national championship loss to Clemson 44-16)

Power conference 28+ wins from 2024 - present (post-Saban): 3

Power conference 21+ losses from 2024 - present (post-Saban): 3 (24-3 loss to Oklahoma in 2024; 28-7 loss to Georgia in 2025 SECCG; 38-3 loss to Indiana in Rose Bowl)

We have made Omaha three times since 1999.
I've done them using Meat Church's recipe and they turned out great.

I also did them one time and wrapped them with foil after I slathered/brushed them with a spicy Korean sauce I made (gochujang, gochujaru, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, etc.).

They turn out great.

Even in their last long period without a natty from 93-08, they still played in multiple SECCGs, multiple 10 win seasons (so probably the equivalent of like 11/12 these days), and multiple top 15 finishes.

1993 - SEC West champions, 9-3-1 top 15 finish
1994 - SEC West champions, 12-1 top 5 finish
1996 - SEC West champions, 10-3, top 15 finish
1999 - SEC champions, 10-3, top 10 finish
2002 - 10-3, top 15 finish (Coaches poll)
2005 - 10-2, top 10 finish
2008 - SEC West champions, 12-2, top 10 finish

They had a few stinker years in there (2000, 2003). They also had many more mediocre years (1998, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007).
LSU fans will do anything to believe the Bama of 00-07 was the norm for that program, ignoring the crippling sanctions, shitty coaches (Mike Dubose and Mike Price, anyone?), etc.

The truth is Bama is the only program in to win a SEC title every decade our beloved conference has been in existence. Sure, Bama may not be as dominant as they were under Saban or Bryant, but to act like they’ll turn into Nebraska is absurd.

Under no scenario whatsoever does OU take a backseat to Texas, LSU, or UGA.
I draw Cal, Illinois, and Wake Forest about 30% of the time I spin.

Unfrickingbelievable. Of my 10 spins, I drew Illinois once and Wake Forest 3 times on my most recent game.
