calorie deficit trumps all and is the key. Whatever method works best for you to achieve a deficit is what id go with.

Keto will drop weight quickest because you're depleting your glycogen and restricting carbs, thus dehydrating your body of carbs. Its not true fat your losing right off the bat. its mostly water weight and therefore people go nuts thinking they just lost 6 lbs of fat in their first week, when really its only 1-1.5lbs. it takes a 3,500 calorie deficit to lose 1 lb.

Im not saying Keto wont work, but the idiots who say its the best and only way are stupid.

Id personally try "if it fits in your macros" and do a more balanced macro split, just with a calorie deficit. use something like Avatar Nutrition.

Best is not the same concept as only.

I would argue that the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties of beta-hydroxybuterate and the harm caused by insulin spikes give keto an advantage over other methods of fat/weight loss.

But that's different from saying it's the best fat/weight-loss method qua fat/weight-loss method.

True keto is difficult. Most people aren't going to go through the changes it takes to limit protein and replace it with fat (and good fats). And that's apart from the carb cutting.

This isn't the OT: what exactly did I say in this post that warrants downvoting, and on what basis?

There are many valid weight loss strategies. Calling one best is a highly individualized concept.

Even if you think Keto is best, it isn't if the person trying hates it and won't stick to it.

The best is a program based in science and logic that you will stick to. The science and logic part, there are several. What you'll stick to...I can't answer that.

I work with an ignoramus who refuses to take into account that the way an individual metabolizes food plays into the bigger picture than which eating trend works "Best."

Experiment with a few different ones and see which one works best for your metabolism

Hence why I'm not committing to keto

I don't doubt that it works. I doubt that I have the mental disorder ahem toughness to follow through with it.

The problem I suspect I've had is too much protein. What are high fat foods with, say, a 2-1 ratio of fat to protein?

I can think of three now:

Bp coffee, nuts lk pecans and walnuts, and some sausages.

Any others?

If you aren't disciplined enough to stick with it for like a month, don't bother. SO and I gave it a shot. Literally made me sick from cutting out carbs and eating high fat. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. Decided to head to my parents for some spaghetti and a have a cheat day. Gained 8 pounds back after that day and didn't even gorge myself. I said frick it after that. That diet was so miserable. And this is coming from someone who is damn near a straight carnivore.

Like someone else said, you have to experiment to find what's best for you.

The best for giving you a shot at healthy longevity? Yes, almost certainly. Weight loss should be a happy byproduct.

It's likely just water weight

Unless you think your body has some special properties that break all laws of physics

It was absolutely all water weight. That's why I said frick the diet and why I mentioned in the first post to stick with it at least a month.

I don't regret it though. I love beer way too much to fully commit.
