I just heard about soy sauce ice cream. I've had Tabasco ice cream and a couple of others over the years.

So what's the weirdest-flavored ice cream you've tasted?

not necessarily "weird", maybe just unusual...but it's delicious!

I think I was in Houston and had a scoop of the soy sauce ice cream with a scoop of toasted rice ice cream. It was actually pretty good.

Salt and Straw has some pretty weird sounding flavors but actually taste pretty good. Some examples when I was in SF:

Pear and blue cheese
Red chilli curry
Arbequina Olive Oil
Green fennel and maple
Charred corn curd, cotija and, Tajin

They rotate new flavors in and out.

Breastmilk ice cream. It's even fun to source the ingredients.

Similar although I didn't order it. There's a New Orleans restaurant that had a garlic fest dinner. I can't recall the name. We went to the dinner with my SIL & BIL and the offered dessert was a garlic ice cream option. My BIL ordered it after our waiter tried to discourage him. I tasted it and it was truly bad. On the way out, my BIL stopped to tell the waiter he was right about not ordering the dessert, unfortunately the owner was standing with the waiter. Didn't go over too well with the owner.

There is a Tabasco-flavored one that they only sell at the gift shop at Avery Island (at least thats what the lady behind the counter told me in 2022).

Hot and sweet. Not bad.

(Edit) I see you already mentioned it in your post

Ok that garlic festival menu is ringing a bell. I think it was Upperline that did that.

Laozi Ice Cream in New Orleans has some strange flavors every now and then. His most recent was a blue cheese ice cream but I wasn't around to get any of it.
He's done a tobacco flavor a few years ago that some people loved.

Now as far as his "normal" flavors, they are always outstanding. He makes his own Creole cream cheese for his Creole cream.cheese ice cream and other variations using it as his base.

You know, I think that was in the back of my mind when I thought of this thread. I do remember seeing that one on TV. Local news, I think.
