I know this is a longshot but I would love to volunteer to help with something like that. I know jackshit about such things but if you need a helping hand even just someone to hand you shite I would be all about it, on my off days off course.

I have a square livewell with a bubbler and have no problems keeping them alive. I do like to periodically pump in some water to the livewell through the day though.
I wrap mine. Reserve some of the liquids afterwards put thru a fat separator and add back in when I pull the meat apart.

Can you find chamber type vacuum sealers for $200 though

No but I spend far more than that on boat, gear, gas, etc. chasing the game so it’s definitely worth the extra 200 for me.

I put the cuts on a piece of parchment paper and freeze before vacuum sealing. Don't have to worry about liquid getting sucked out.

I can see how this would work but I often have large amounts of fish filets (over 50 lbs). That would be a royal pain in the arse to do regularly with large amounts of meat.
Get a chamber vacuum sealer and don’t look back. If you do any kind of fishing regularly it’s a game changer. Moisture will no longer be a problem, you can literally seal up a bag of water. Anytime we make a gumbo or any type of soup the leftovers get vacuum sealed now.

Vevor probably the best value. I have a Cabela’s brand and it’s been awesome. You will have to get different bags. Mine doesn’t like the textured bags and I have to use smooth bags.

We had a solid day offshore on Friday.

Great job. You have such a wealth of knowledge on this subject and are an asset to the board. Although it was not my question I certainly appreciate someone knowledgeable about these things that really helps out guys on this board.
When they were at their original location before they built the place on diversion. When the new Kevins was built on the diversion it wasn’t as good as the original but I still found it was better than Dicarlos which is why you had those wait times. Yes they had a few rough patches but overall most of my experiences were good.
I stopped going couple years ago. I really tried to like it but we had too many bad experiences. Sadly Dicarlos is no where near what Kevin’s was in their prime.

Sale alert!

They are doing that Bubba rod sale tomorrow for Father’s Day weekend. Puglias. 4 rods for $120.00.

Don’t know if I got a couple lemons but I stopped using falcon coastal. Last 2 I had didn’t make it through 2 trips.

If I were spending more than a hundred dollars on a rod for op’s application I would give a hard look at Bass Pro’s Carbon lite rods that have a 10 year warranty. Also another brand that a guy from B&B tackle was telling me about at the last outdoor show. I can’t remember the brand but it has a no questions asked warranty. Think I remember them being somewhere between 100-150 bucks. A quick phone call and I am sure they could tell you the brand.

I don't know how many times someone has reached back on the cast and caught some of the rods in the holders. We often remove them all and lay them down which then brings its own set of issues.

I do the exact same thing unless it’s only myself and 1 other experienced angler.

I do a lot of trout fishing and feel your pain. I like to have enough tackle so I can bring 3-4 guests and everyone has a few rods for the day. People are hard on rods so I get not spending too much on them. I like a medium 7 ft that’s light weight with good sensitivity.

By far the best value you can get is to wait for Plugias in Metairie to have their Bubba rod sale which they do every few months. Following them on FB and they will announce the day before. It’s 4 rods for $130.00. They usually sell out by then end of the day. I am not saying they are the best thing out there but they are light weight, sensitive, and can’t be beat for the money. Every other retailer usually sells the same rods for $150.00 each.

ETA:

Looks like they have gone down on price a little and can be found online for about $100.00 each. But Puglias sells them 4 for 130.00. Also I am not affiliated with the store in any way but love this deal which they do like clockwork.

Went to Troubador festival there recently. Tried a German place there called Bavarian Brauhaus off of a board recommendation.

Honestly it was not very good and I would not recommend. Sorry can’t help with any other recommendations for the area. I will say that there were a lot of chain restaurants that I have never seen before to pick from.

Nope but he did a lot of the rod n reel work for them.
Do you know the man in the last photo?
Lotta good mowers out there. I love my Bad Boy ZT Elite. I found the bad boy ZT offers the most for your dollar regarding biggest transaxles, deck thickness, suspension, etc. Gravely is great but found that I had to go up in class and spend more money to get the same features.

My main recommendation is to buy from a local dealer and not from a big box store.

Sometimes I will use the shrimplets in a double rig under a cork whenever I know they are feeding on small shrimp. But I still prefer the bigger glide shrimp with the bigger hooks for bigger trout. Sometimes I rig the big ones in a double rig setup as well.

I would say GI is not different than anywhere else in South LA for plastics. Determine what the water clarity and depth you plan on fishing then go from there.

I personally like the marker 54 glide shrimp (not the jerk) when fishing a cork. Matrix shad for a swimming tail bait.

I usually have something rigged in doubles in case we find them schooled up and in a feeding frenzy.

I like big hard body swim and jerk baits to target bigger trout.

Having said that. If it’s a tournament you will want some live bait preferably croakers or pogies if you can cast net them.

Good luck as it was tough down there last weekend. Was hard to find decent water.
