What do you baws know about kitchen aid mixers?

Looking for the SOs Christmas gift and I grabbed a pro model 5 plus for what seems like about half off. I’m not sure how much they usually run for so hard to tell but it seemed like a good price (paid around $250) . I think it’s one of the bigger models but from what I can tell not the flag ship or anything. I’ll be honest it was a bit confusing looking through their site to figure out which models were better than the others. Seems like they have quite a few options.
Any info y’all have on these things would be appreciated. I know the ladies at my office go bananas over them as does my mother and her sisters
Eta: she already bakes and cooks a lot. Also if you have any info on specific models and their benefits or draw backs please share.

Don't do it. That's the best advice I can give you. It will not go over well as a gift to a SO. Trust me.

Got one for a wedding gift. Sat on the counter for about two years without use, but now we've used it a few times.

overpriced “it gift” all womenz have to have that then sits on your counter and takes up space except for the 3 times a year she makes homemade bread.

We use ours weekly on average ever since having kids it feels like. My wife likes to bake though.
We have the Pro 6qt model and have been very happy with it. 7 years of use so far, no issues.

We got one of those early on in marriage. My wife further domesticated and upgraded to a Bosch and gave the kitchenaid away to a newb. So, it depends on SOs level of domestication, imo.

I do all the cooking wife does the baking. She LOVES hers and uses it all of the time. It has many attachments for other uses as well if you/she is interested. If she is into baking she will love it. If she is not it will just be an expensive large piece of equipment on your counter.

Mine loves hers. Has the attachments to shred cheese. Used quite frequently.

Ehhh the SO cooks very very regularly and literally cries watching the great British baking show

Depends on the wife. I bought mine an Ankarsrum the year before last and she loved it and uses it all the time.

my wife wanted one for christmas when we were dating. she was stoked that i bought it for her but she uses it a handful of times a year to make cookies for holidays. i bought a meat grinder attachment for it and would use the piss out of it duing deer season before I bought a bigger grinder.

MY wife is a food scientist and has had a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for over 20 years. They are bulletproof and have a ton of accessories. She uses it all the time. As a baker...she will use the shite out of it.
ETA...Try to find a good place to store it when it isn't in use. We have a shelf in the Pantry for ours...they do take up quite a bit of counterspace.

They are well made and will last forever. They have all sorts of attachments. If you are in the market for a mixer, you can't go wrong.
