Yes Roberto’s shrimp.
They gave it to me because I had a graduation party there.
Loved going to that place.
Proud to say I brought several dates there.

Loved Pinetta’s so much I got a job there.
Never got any recipes though.
Just a literal pink slip mailed to me because I refused to work during lsu games my second senior year at lsu in 2008.
RIP to that dirty, beautiful place.

I've asked what's in something before but I never specifically asked for a recipe.

Shaya's verde salsa used on their fried chicken hummus.

They gave me an ingredient list.

I was at a lunch in DC near Capitol Hill and they served this delicious mustard and peppercorn sauce with the burger and fries. I asked them what the sauce was made with, and those are the only two ingredients the waiter volunteered, so I didn't press on about it. I just complimented them on how good it was.. and went back again, but the sauce was only on the lunch special menu for the previous day. The waiter remembered me and the chef whipped me up a serving to go with my order.

I've asked about the brand of ketchup a restaurant used. It was great tasting ketchup.

Two things I did/do well are Bloody Marys and stone ground grits. Five years ago while in the French Quarter I ordered a BM and it was better than mine. I asked the server if they would give out the recipe and she said ask the bartender. He gave it to me without question,

Six months ago I ordered grits at a restaurant in Jacksonville Fl. They were so good I asked the server about the recipe. She came back from the kitchen with the recipe. It matched mine except for one more ingredent.

Yep. Crème Brûlée from Mike’s on the Avenue and Shrimp Creole from the Gumbo shop. Both written down and given freely.

A great chef has no secrets. They know that they can spread joy thru people cooking their dishes for their families. I once asked the great Warren Leruth about a recipe and he went into great detail telling me what to do. What a great chef.

Idk why you’re getting roasted here. I haven’t necessarily asked for an exact recipe but I have asked multiple times something like “what did yall put in here” or “how did yall make this?”

I got the recipe for Mee Grob Laht Na from Bangkok Cuisine once when I complimented them on it. For a while it was my favorite dish to eat out of any restaurant meal.

The base was what they called "Mama's Sauce" and it was also used in their "Duck Delight" dish that my wife loved.

Merlin Chauvin, who was one of the owner/chefs there, wrote it on the back of his business card. He was also working at Emeril's at the time.

My first post on here was to ask if anyone had the Peche recipe for ground shrimp with noodles. Gris Gris (RIP) reached out to the restaurant (I think via Facebook), they gave it to her, and she shared it with me. I've made it several times.

Many popular recipes for more known restaurants, like some in NOLA, are posted online on their website or in newspaper or magazine articles. For example, that Peche recipe was later posted by Bon Appetit and Times Pic.

Yeah, it's strange. Just look at all of the people that have asked and find it completely normal.

I mean, we ate at Murphy's on the last day they were going to be open, so I dint think it was a big deal to ask.

Just check the armoire. No need to ask. Most good chefs keep their recipes there.
