Have they opened back up after the business was sold a while back? If so, do they have the same menu?
They are open. Had a very good lunch there about 2 weeks ago the menu is the same, and most importantly the schooners of beer are still there.
They are short staffed like a lot of places so be patient. There was only one waitress and one bartender and they both worked their asses off.

Good to hear. There was concern that the restaurant would not only change hands, but a complete menu change too.
I've had their schooners of ice cold beer from there since 1974 when I first discovered that place.

I like Short Stop Poboys roast beef. It's in the Metrys, but also has a drive up window if you don't want to mix it up with the Jeffersonians.
as opposed to who?

Shortstop. Been eating there since my days at EJ. It was a tiny grocery then.

Don’t underestimate their pizza.
What a great atmosphere, too.

Killer poboys roast beef is criminally underrated

Across the street from Short Stop on Transcontinental is Bahn Mi Boys for a nice change of pace.
I would encourage you to try DiMartino's roast beef on the West Bank, they also have to me the best muffuletta in the GNO.

Shortstop with the downvotes. Easily the best Roast Beef in the city.
Parkway is super bland. R&Os is good.
For shrimp give me Guy's.

My favorite from years ago and now long closed down was a small place on Almonaster across from a Winn-Dixie store called "Clarence & Lefty's".
It was a bar that had a kitchen and served the best roast beef sandwich I'd ever had up to that time. It was rumored they never cleaned their big pot of gravy they added the sliced roast beef to and just kept adding more brown gravy as needed, leaving it simmer overnight. More than likely "Urban Myth" but it made for a good story.
I'm partial to Rocky & Carlo's roast beef. You definitely never walk out of there hungry if you eat what they sell you.

Better than Parkways IMO but I’ve never had R&Os. It’s my favorite. Take it for what it’s worth

Impressive. I've never seen gravy run up.
