they arent there to be good. they are there to provide a way for families living in parts of the country that dont have access to legitimate food options to have a not awful time

yes, if you are in houston or NOLA or any other urban center and you choose to go to those places then sure, idk what to tell you. but if you are in buttfrick iowa and dont have many options outside of the chain or the local diner where you get the same meal everyday...well then they serve a purpose

Really? Never been able to see the scenery without all those skanks obscuring the view.

I've been to Ruth Chris and St. Elmo's more than a handful of times and to this day the best single steak I've ever had was from Texas Roashouse.

Red Robin is also a great burger place.

Meh. They can still cook a great steak, but their sides and whole schtick is all about being a chain.

My wife has Chili's gift cards - what food items do you like at Chilis?

I was wondering when WH would be mentioned. Never had a bad or mediocre meal there and their coffee is to die for.
I stopped at one on the way to the hunting camp this morning. Black coffee and biscuits and gravy!!!!!

It’s still Houston’s for the most part but in NOLA it’s now known as The Boulevard. The one on Vets in Metairie is one of our favorite meals out. It’s not the best cuisine you’ll ever have, but it’s consistent and the service is always great.

If you can’t find at least one thing worth eating at those chains, you might be the problem.

The Baton Rouge one is independently owned and operated, and it is fantastic.

Even living in a place like Lafayette, we have enough local options that we never have to go to a chain restaurant, and we dine out often. That's not to say that I'll turn down an invite if a friend wants to go to Walk-Ons, Ruth's Chris, Zea, or one of the "acceptable" chains, but it blows my mind to see the crowds at places like Chilis, Applebees, etc...

Sorry, but Chili's is actually good. So is Outback.

Great. Life's too short to get worked up over where other's eat.

I haven't been in a while, but the one in mid-town NYC has a great happy hour. Nice bar scene and some of the best sliders I've had anywhere.
