well done. I saw a tweet one time that said "if Petey Pablo said your name in freek-a-leek, you ratchet" Wife and I were discussing names a few days ago. We have to find something that can be easily pronounced across multiple languages due to language barriers. So probably a "normal" name but in its Spanish or Italian form. Matteo instead of Matthew, Camilla instead of Camille, etc.

I hope not. I really like older names. For guys, strong traditional names tend to project people you can count upon, who aren’t so easily moved one war or another. Men who will be there when needed. For women, names that remind me of something beautiful or lovely, strong in character and gentle in spirit. None of these newer names really do that for me when I hear them. They are original perhaps, but kind of empty.

Kids in my friend group (and neighborhood kids that will be going to school with my daughter) mostly have normal “traditional” names. We do have a few silly “nickname” type names, but none of this Braxton/Aiden bullshite.

Was talking to a pregnant girl just the other day that said she was naming her daughter Blane, but her husband doesn't like the name because he's still hoping for a boy. Maybe she's going to spell it funny, but I thought Blane was a boys name.

The gay travel ball names have become so prevalent that young parents are moving back towards traditional names. The newest additions in my friend circle are Rosemary, Olivia, Nathaniel, & Ruth.
I have feeling "Ruth" is seeing a resurgence due to another tv show, also. I expect to see "Kayce" and "Rip" start showing up in gobs very soon.

Now think about some of the most famous icons. Names that are almost universally recognized. There are a few exceptions, but overall, these people have normal, common names.
The trend to take a normal name, and spell it oddly, has to be the most vain thing going right now. Again, that tells me a lot about the parents.

Maybe everyone realized what dumbasses they sounded like now that they’re turning into teenagers and adults.
Those people named babies and didn’t think they’d have to put that on a resume.

When we named our kids we made sure that the names would sound right with "Dr" in front of them. We didn't end up with any doctors but no goofy names either.
