re: Catholics to excommunicate priests who follows Washington law about reporting child abuse

Guess the priest who told me this was lying then.

They are actually bound to reveal what is told to them in the vonfessional if it is going to lead to future harm. I.e. you could confess a murder and not get told on but confessing plans to murder is allowable to admit to authorities.

My wife and I are outdoorsy-lite types, but we camp and fish. At one point in our lives we were both working retail, and it was way easier to rely on our own blades over the cheap crap work gave us.

I carry one with me everywhere for 2 reasons...a knife is a useful tool, and "stray strapped or get clapped". I don't think I'll beat someone with a gun, I'm not a complete fool. But a knife can be a useful deterrent in many situations.
That being said. Take it easy grandpa. If all you do is bitch about shite and never explain WHY the kids should have a knife, then they'll never carry one.

Many of those studies were also funded by the sugar industry. Sugar and beef have been biting at each other for years when really, excess is the largest problem. That and non-holistic farming practices.

It makes you wonder how much of the "issues"associated with eating meat have to do with meat by itself or rather what yhe animals are eating. I don't know that reasearch has been done into the health factor of say, grass fed and finished beef vs grainfed, or pastured pork and chicken vs grainfed.
I truly believe that factory/industrial farming has done the most harm to our dietary practice.

re: Anybody tried Nootropics for focusing better?

L-Tyrosine helped me and my wife, but we both have underfunctioning thyroids, which is where tyrosine is produced/used in the body.
If you have had bloodwork done to establish vitamin/hormone levels, I would start there, and periodically get re-assessed. If you're concerned about thyroid function, you would need to ask specifically for that.
Otherwise, i know certain mushroom extractives are good nootropics, plus the age-old caffeine/gingko/b12 stuff. Try meditation and focusing techniques as well. I have adhd and while it is extremely difficult some days, intra-personal communication has helped me to improve somewhat.

re: 10 year old Dog has stopped drinking water
Posted by TheFitfulFire on 2/22/24 at 11:55 am to BluegrassCardinal
It may be the kidneys shutting down. Happened to our 10 year old cattle dog. She had cysts on her hips, lost her appetite, amd even her desire to drink. If your vet ran labs and they came back normal though...I dunno, sounds odd. But you're doing what you can, so take heart in the comfort you can give.

I mean, if you base his teachings on the letters that are only attributed to him, I could see why you'd think that. But Paul didn't write all of the letters that bear his name in the Bible. Biblical scholarship has already determined that based on the age and tone of those letters in relation to the ones they are certain he wrote.
re: Ever had a naturally violent kid?
Posted by TheFitfulFire on 1/10/24 at 7:59 pm to Hawgnsincebirth55
Some people are innately violent, male or female. Let her be what she is, but teach her about acceptable boundaries. It's possible she grows out of it, but if she doesn't, she should know how and when to handle herself. Better she understand that then hate you for trying to break her of it.

re: US Supreme Court denies request by oil firms to halt coastal erosion suit
Posted by TheFitfulFire on 11/9/23 at 8:54 am to hubertcumberdale
It has to do with that to some degree, but the oil companies dredged numerous canals through the marsh for drilling knowing it would significantly increase erosion and they did not care.

Benadryl.
Eta: My bad. I did not read thoroughly, and gave a boneheaded suggestion.
Wife and I have had success with sleepytime extra teas, which combine herbs like valerian and chamomile into a pretty tasty tea. Plus the warmth is pretty relaxing, but as always, ymmv.
I dunno how natural supplementing a mineral like magnesium is considered, but adding magnesium glycinate has helped us as well. Not so much to put us to sleep, but helps with relaxation to get to sleep.

It means you don't wanna bang someone unless you're attracted to who they are as a person. It's always existed, but that term helps to identify the difference from people who will bang just because they find someone hot (aka most of the board).
It's not that hard to understand, y'all are just dumbasses.
