(1) by the person's culpable negligence whereby the person creates an unreasonable risk, and consciously takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm to another; or

It’s a step below 1st degree if I’m reading the statute correctly.

Giving cops two similar weapons is stupid and needs to end.

Basically if you accidentally kill someone.
Like if someone kills someone accidentally with manslaughter, they are charged with 2nd degree.

This one seems ripe for a plea deal. She definitely fricked up and deserves some jail time.

No kidding. When crap hits the fan, like it did, you better be paying well a highly trained individual to make decisions. We are not doing that.

No doubt she was a dumb bitch but resisting arrest is what sparked it. Both are in the wrong. Duante is as much to blame as the dumb bitch who shot him.

Why would you jump to this conclusion? Because of a very small amount of poor outcomes? It’s been used tens thousands of times successfully and may have saved hundreds of lives of cops and criminals.

Is this what they'd charge a civilian with if they accidentally discharged a firearm and killed someone? (And it can be proven it was an accident)

Because that would be fair if so.

ETA:

Just read above. It's negligence. That is a fair charge. This was outrageously stupid of that police officer and someone died as a result.

She might not get any jail time. It appears there is no minimum or requirement in that regard.
