thats probably what she deserves to be charged with. her mistake cost someone their life
But if a doctor makes a mistake and cost someone their life what gives

serve a couple years
I don't know if she deserves to go to jail, given the nature of the work she was performing.
Certain occupations are more dangerous than others, and mistakes have deadlier consequences. This needs to be taken into account, or people will no longer pursue those occupations.
Most people make occasional mistakes on the job in stressful situations, and nobody dies because they work at a desk or in a store.
They must prove actual negligence, and I don't know that she was necessarily negligent and operating in a careless manner.

This board doesn't like when you point out the number of people who die every year from malpractice and/or gross negligence. That is a problem worth protesting.

Make it negligent homicide and I could vote guilty.
Isn’t that a stiffer penalty/worse crime than negligent manslaughter?

I know whenever I’m faced with trying to arrest a fleeing criminal who is known to use guns and is reaching into his car to either drive away or grab a weapon, I double check the device I pull before firing. Not double checking is clearly negligence.
Me too. I want to make damn sure I have my 9mm. Because I'm not bringing a taser to a gun fight. And if he reaches, I'm pulling the trigger. She was a dumbass for wanting the taser and not the gun. Now if he didn't reach and was just trying to drive away, and I could see his hands at all times, I wouldn't shoot. No one was in front of the car so he wasn't an immediate threat to anyone. I would have pulled back and started pursuit of the vehicle.
This case will be interesting, because I'll bet they can prove that a gun was the appropriate weapon of choice in this instance.

Man it’s crazy that had she simply intended to use her pistol and deliberately shot him, she may not even be charged.

This is another area where people frequently conflate bad outcomes with negligence.
Especially bottom-feeding lawyers.

Will likely plead down to negligent homicide if possible in Minnesota, given the heightened circumstance probably little to no jail time. All hell will really break loose

If that mistake is a reasonable misdiagnosis it sure is different then mistakenly grabbing fentanyl instead of Tylenol
And would be responded to similarly

Good and hopefully she will be able to plead down and avoid prison time. Because after all, it was a mostly peaceful mistake

Buddy, there almost isn’t enough money that could motivate me to go into police work these days, not unless I’m getting at least 6 figures and amazing benefits. Maybe in a small one horse town, but certainly not in any place with a significant population of thuggery. Ain’t happening.

I mean if a doctor mistakenly put a patient on the wrong antibiotics, and those antibiotics killed the patient. Then yes they would absolutely deserve to be held responsible.
Is there anyone that would argue differently besides the doctor himself?

Is incompetence negligence?
Did it appear that she wasn't taking the situation seriously? Did it appear that she wasn't paying attention? Did she appear to have a cavalier attitude?
Or was she scared and incompetent and made a deadly mistake?
This is legitimate to consider.
An accountant getting a blowjob while working (Swordfish style) puts a period in the wrong place, and nobody dies.
She was in a life or death situation.

If I’m a cop and a fugitive tries to flee, I let them. No chase, no intervention. They got away. When they go on to commit other crimes and people get tired of the rising crime rates, maybe the pendulum swings the other way.

What's the difference between negligent homicide and negligent manslaughter in Minnesota?
