I imagine it would be hard to prove she felt her life was threatened after admitting her intent to use less than lethal force, but there's a reason I am not a lawyer.

Normally these cop shootings are overcharged by a zealous DA which leads to an eventual acquittal. However, I think this one was properly charged.

Instead she reached to the opposite side of her body, pulled out what she thought was a taser, didn’t notice it was a loaded 9mm, and shot him.
I think she already had the gun out and somehow forgot to holster and switch to the taser. Very strange. I’d love to hear her thinking.

Yeah, she’s guilty of that.
Posted on 4/14/21 at 11:43 am to GRTiger
Hypothetically, would she be in less legal trouble had she actually meant to pull her pistol and shoot the guy claiming she feared for her life?

Good. Police need boundaries. Seems like other like minded 2A Americans would share similar beliefs.

Basically if you accidentally kill someone.
Like if someone kills someone accidentally with manslaughter, they are charged with 2nd degree.
That is also assuming that the deceased person was simply minding his own business, correct? Like a driver wasn’t paying attention and ran over a pedestrian on a crosswalk.
My understanding is that is not what happened here. It is my understanding that the deceased person was doing something that rightfully required additional force from the LEO. The LEO mistakenly, according to her, used an inappropriate level of force.
She is definitely at fault; however, the deceased person would be all accounts be alive if he did not resist arrest. Is this correct? Is this the definition of man-2?

They actually charged correctly. Unlike with Floyd.
Shocking.
Shocking.

Suspect is pointing gun at cops, cop says "taser taser taser", pulls gun mistakenly, shoots the guy, and then freaks out and says "oh my god I shot him"
I'd say if a cop has a gun pulled on them and their response is to tase the suspect, they probably shouldn't be a cop.

Man-2 appears to require the killer to also create the unsafe situation which is where she gets off on that one IMO.

She should be. Incompetent dumbass.
Still not racist, though, but I'm sure we'll be told it is.

Yep. Riots coming though

I mean, this is the correct charge, but I dont think its clear cut they win

If your fear of great bodily harm causes you to not think straight, how can you be a cop?

Wow. Appropriate charges. I'm shocked...

I would assume it would be something like that if it went to trial, but I am not sure that would excuse the end result to the extent of acquittal.
