First of all that bitch is dumb as hell. Generally the female cops are like that, always trying to show up the male ones. Second I have no sympathy for that piece of trash that got shot either. You get stopped by the police and then try to drive off?

The race baiter Ben Crump (no idea how this guy is the new go-to lawyer for these thugs now) about how this charge isn't enough because it was straight up murder and just proves your can be killed for driving while black.
No, you can be killed for resisting arrest, jumping in your car, reaching for something, and refusing to listen to the cops. Not just because you are black.

Giving cops two similar weapons is stupid and needs to end.
I mean they’re similar in the fact that they both have a pistol shaped grip on them. But there is literally no way you can mistake a taser for your service weapon. When you raise it to fire you’d immediately know. Plus it’s bright yellow.

Is incompetence negligence?
Negligence is when you do something in an incompetent manner whether or not you yourself are wholly incompetent, so by default, yes.
Any reasonable person on a jury would agree. And if I were sitting on a jury and you made that argument, I'd consider both you and her incompetent.

Did it appear that she wasn't paying attention?
Yeah, I'd say so. She pulled a gun instead of a taser and shot a guy while screaming "taser!"
Quit bootlicking.

Are you a cop?

Everytime i see this remark i see someone that has probably been arrested. Just my opinion so don't get your panties in a wad

This is another area where people frequently conflate bad outcomes with negligence.
Except for the fact that there is malpractice/negligence more than anyone involved wants to admit.

I don’t understand how anyone would be a cop right now

I disagree. At the range she was standing either is being aimed like a gut gun. You aren’t assuming some firing range perfect stance when shooting like that.
Furthermore, im sure it’s been mentioned, but is this cop Meryl Streep? Because I believe her. The sound she makes when her pistol fires and the tone of her voice is spot on for someone who fricked up so bad they may puke. This cop would have to be a world class actress to pull that off. That pistol blast scares her.
She absolutely fricked up, and I absolutely believe her.

I don't know if she deserves to go to jail, given the nature of the work she was performing.
Certain occupations are more dangerous than others, and mistakes have deadlier consequences. This needs to be taken into account, or people will no longer pursue those occupations.
Most people make occasional mistakes on the job in stressful situations, and nobody dies because they work at a desk or in a store.
They must prove actual negligence, and I don't know that she was necessarily negligent and operating in a careless manner.
I understand what you're saying, but I can't think of anything more negligent than shooting a gun when you think you're shooting a taser.

This is just another example where police training needs to be updated. The male cop was trying to detain this guy with the door open and access to whatever is in the car. The second they realized he had a warrant, the scene should have been secured. Ask him to walk back to the police car. Shut the car down. So many things could have been completed early in this process to avoid a guy dying.

Probably need to stop dropping hiring standards. It's only to attract minorities and women.
I'm not sure how this person got through the psych and training.

I won't disagree. I don't think being an idiot and allowing a suspect gain controll of a situation is grounds for a free pass on murder.

Kinda tough to add training when everyone is screaming to defund. But this situation is a perfect example of why more money should be spent, not less.

One or two incidents over tens (maybe even hundreds) of millions of interactions is not a big deal
Then what are all the riots about?

More specifically allocated money. Local PD doesn't need army tanks and all these other things to fight the "war on drugs" when that money should be focused on better pay and training.
Also less laws=less interactions=less crime=less need for more officers=better allocation of resources

I dont understand how she created the unreasonable risk. The victim did by resisting and attempting to flee.

My opinion is that she should have chosen the gun, not the taser. What weapon would you have chosen in that situation?
