In 2019 while running GSLP I got to 240x5 but never pushed past that. Was also 20lbs heavier than now (fat not much muscle). Was a wuss and didn’t do a 1RM before starting this month and had my TM at 195. Was able to go to 250 this morning and am actually kicking myself I didn’t try 255 or even 260 but I had done 14 sets at that point and my legs were feeling it.

As far as the jump to 250 I think it’s a mixture of setting my TM too low with actually getting a lot stronger. Excited to see what some consistency will lead to over the next year

My legs are definitely fatigued after this morning. But it was all worth it!

Congrats to all the PR's!

I’ve never tested maxes before, but prior best was 215x6. Estimated 1RM was around 250 and I ended up with a 221.5 training max.

230 felt great, so I decided to try 235 for reps. Felt like I could’ve pushed up to 250 or higher for single, but I’m old and don’t compete, so why risk it.

Squat (Barbell) (beltless)
Set 1: 172.5 lb × 1
Set 2: 200 lb × 1
Set 3: 220 lb × 1
Set 4: 225 lb × 1
Set 5: 230 lb × 1
Set 6: 235 lb × 4

I haven’t maxed out since high school. I estimated my squat max to be 330ish and that’s what I started the month at.

I went up to 350 after the doubles and triples.

I hit 405 today!! Felt great to finally get 400+!! 385 felt good so I jumped to 405 and got it. Might have been able to squeeze a few more pounds but I know where I’m working at now!

Happy Squatober boys! Time to rock my shirt for the first time all month!

Going live with Game Day!

Just did my last warmup triple at 315. About to start the singles.

365 x 1 - check
405 x 1 - check
455 x 1 - check
485 x 1 - check, but it was tough. Not sure if I'll get back to 500, but gonna give it a go. If you don't hear back from me, tell my wife and kids I love them. :signofthecross:

500 x 1 - big MF check!

500 matched lifetime PR. Went for new lifetime PR of 505 and just didn't have it in me. Think I could have gotten it if I had just jumped from 485 to 505.

Satisfied with 500 though. Just started back lifting in early August after about a 6 month hiatus. 500 is what I hit last Squatober too.

Now on to bench...

Hit 315 x 1. Lifetime PR is 325. But PR before starting Squatober was 285.

So Squatober 2022 is in the books with +35 lbs on squat, +30 lbs on bench.

Just heating up my chili right now. Should be nice and hot in about 15 minutes.

1 rep max before was 315. Just hit 345 and loading 365 on the bar. I don't have a spotter so succeed or fail, this us my last squat. Nailed it! New PR 365. I had more in the tank, but without a spotter or spotter arms, this was enough.

On to bench. Frick me. Got my 13 year old to spot me. Hit a PR at 295. Went for 300 and on 1st lift, instead of helping me lift it off the rack he was looking at the wall and had all his weight resting on the bar...scratch. Lift 2, he helped me get it off, but then proceeded to grab it when I didn't need help...scratch. Lift 3 halfway up and I couldn't get it and he wasn't close enough to help me bump it up so it got to rest on my chest while he pulled some plates off... scratch. Guess I'll be proud of 295...for now.

(By the way, not mad at my son. This isn't really his thing so I was happy for him to want to help me.)

Squatober kicked arse and looking forward to the Arm Farm. Hopefully I can get this tendonitis under control.

Man yall are hitting some big numbers!

I think I'm the only one that failed to hit a PR. Extremely disappointed.

I got 300 when testing my max before squatober. Started with a 270 lb TM. After hitting 277.5 lbs I jumped straight up to 315 because I wanted those 3 plates but I failed twice so that was a mistake. Dropped down to 305 but i was pretty taxed already. I started shaking during the rep so I came back up without going deep enough.
Gonna try to get one on bench and save face.

225 on bench. Up from 215

No belt 315 1RM up from 265. 300 was the goal. I think I can hit 400 with time & a belt. Not bad for an, ahem, older fella.

One bonus of Squatober is I don’t feel guilty eating this Halloween candy after a solid month of work.

Prolly will hit that 315 after arm farm and time to recover

I got 340 which is up 25 lbs. not close to a lifetime PR but certainly a post Covid PR. On my way back to 4 plates baby.

Not gonna lie though, I’m glad it’s over as my old knees were starting to get cranky

I did learn a lot, especially that we have some strong mother frickers on here.

Great job everyone. Feels great to out in the work!!

no way i can this year :banghead:

might do the workouts but just do them at my pace of 3-4x per week but with 1 kid in middle school football, another playing flag that i coach while also practicing with baseball team, and the youngest playing fall ball an hour away on top of getting their workouts and private lessons in...on top of homework and prepping their lunches and breakfast...yea no fricking way i can this year.

I doubt I can as well - been battling major back issues. Damn herniated disc and what feels like a potential stress fracture too.

But we’ll see. I may give it a go and just start light.
