This guy basically had very little help. The playcalling was bad, i mean really bad. Receivers werent getting open. I think he had the potential to be a really good player. Man, it was tough watching alp the max protect with 2 routes to choose from. Then 4 wide, nobody open, and no protection. Just brutal what some of these quarterbacks had to put up with.

Jefferson just wasn't very good. He had a very strong arm but he didn't throw with touch. They tried to utilize his mobility and that's why he was ultimately able to succeed as much as he did. I never saw many flashes of great passing ability.

I'm sure a better offensive scheme could have helped. I would argue it would have helped Lee even more.

I remember JJ having a very slow throwing motion. Seems like it took forever to go through his motion. He wasn’t very good imo.

True!

Maybe at another position but not at quarterback. He was a fine athlete.

It’s really best we drop the whole JJ narrative. That was a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

Jordan had problems.

Jordan had an all world team around him.

The play calling is on the level of the rest of the SEC at that time.

The guy who would say "I played pretty good" after the game

40 % completion 130 yards and a couple of picks

Don't make excuses for JJ. Dude was absolute garbage when it mattered. The only tiger I don't like.

I’ll offer some perspective. He was the #1 QB in Louisiana. He had offers to play at Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, but committed to LSU as soon as he got an offer. He was thrown in as a true freshman. He beat Saban twice. He was booed in Tiger Stadium and still pushed his brothers to LSU. Jordan Jefferson is a great Tiger.

quote:
“Me seeing what my brother went through from like a recruit’s perspective — I definitely could have said, ‘Ah, nah,’ ” But just LSU as a whole — all the people that make up LSU? They’ve been loyal throughout this whole thing. The 12 years we’ve been there? It’s family.”

Thankfully, there were enough supporters to overcome you.

Jordan beat Bama twice. Let that sink in. As shitty as the offensive game plan was during his time, he still beat Bama twice. He could’ve thrived in a good offensive scheme. He did his best here and then pushed his brothers here. For those things, he’ll always be a great Tiger to me.

No, you are dead wrong. JJ often missed wide open receivers on plays my wife might have made. I was in the stands at Vandy one year, and he could not complete simple swing passes to open receivers.

Surely a better offense would have yielded better results, but JJ was not a passing QB.

Jordan was not a good passer. He was a very good athlete who might have prospered in a system like Mullen's.

OMG so fricking false! People booed THE COACHES for changing the QB during the best season in 50 years. That 2011 team could have been all time greats.

You don’t mess with perfect seasons but Les wanted to give him reps. That moment change the dynamics of everything.

JJ was a team cancer and a terrible player. Even got Mathieu in trouble after JJ's career was over. Rickey was also one of the worst multi year starters in sec history. Terrible against the run and pass.

We’re all LSU fans here. I will say that I don’t have no personal issues with JJ, and the Jefferson family has proven their love for LSU but JJ was the worst college QB I’ve ever seen at a major D1 program. He was invited to the NFL combine and was graded not only the worst QB there, but the worst PLAYER rating overall.

The LSU defense and Alabama kickers are the only reason we won in 2011. Jefferson was shite.

His inability to throw the bubble screen was almost comical. That we kept calling it despite that was also comical. Miles apologists at the time and there were still many at that time said it was to set up other plays later on. I never found wasting plays to set up others later a very sound strategy.

Jefferson had his moments, his good games. But he was limited as IMHO was Lee. Their career passing stats were almost identical -

Lee - 317-565 (56.1), 3939 yards, 32-21 and 7 yards per attempt.

JJ - 397-678 (58.6), 4733 yards, 34-20 and 7 yards per attempt.

Sure they were both victims of the post 2008 Miles that put the reigns on the offense after Lee's interception issues in 2008. But in the end they were average QB's who IMHO both had to play because neither were ever consistently good enough to completely unseat the other....until the very end where the staff felt JL was not an option against Bama.
