Oh yeah. And would they have even gotten that talent?

Archer's entire gameplan was Hodson to Davis.

Gerry's deal was being underestimated. Once guys started to respect him, he got corrected. He was far too loyal to assistants, too.

Les' downfall was stubborness, plain and simple.

Which was stupid because if Lee stays as the QB against Bama in Tuscaloosa, we lose that game.

Both QB's sucked arse, but Jefferson was better than Lee.

es. Yes he was.

Stats padded against cupcakes. Hell, iirc 75% of his throws were behing the los. Against good teams, he played terribly.
try again:

Repeating this thousands of times doesn't make it true.

Sure. We lucked out a bit in that Bama didn't plan for the option. Even then, we had ONE good drive that game with Jefferson. The first one. After that, meh, Bama figured it out.

But for frick's sake. The offense absolutely STUNK with JJ in there against Bama. I mean frick, we scored 9 points! LOL

And, you guys all act like no QB in history has ever started off a game poorly and finished OK.

But even if one says, "yep, JL was rough and you had to go with JJ"...………..that doesn't remotely explain how from there forward, there was literally no level of JJ incompetence that created the same urgency.

Regardless. As I said. At this point, I think both JJ and JL got a raw deal from fans. Neither was NFL caliber, but, their common denominator deserves the real blame.

No one thinks we WOULD have won.

What they say is, "it's the fricking national title game and your weapon is jammed...…….try another fricking weapon"

Maybe JL would have gone in and lost too. Hell, frankly, that's probable. We couldn't run against Bama at all in either outing other than catching them a little off guard the first time with the option.

But, we didn't even fricking try. For that, Miles should be made fun of for the rest of his fricking life.

Worst regular starting QB of my lifetime watching LSU (late 70s) and it’s not really close.

I do agree with this. Les may have been the second worst coach in LSU history behind Curly Hallman

Less basically thought (I'm skeptical how much thinking he was capable of doing) he could just put out a more talented team than whoever we were playing and win by default. The program was basically at a point where it recruited itself (unlike in the 80s or 90s), so I don't want to hear anything about him "a good recruiter."

Rickey was also one of the worst multi year starters in sec history

Rickey was a work day player and did well at his position, maybe not all world, but a very good player.

Let us just say, maybe a good idea to go back and watch the those games again.

correct.

It’s not that we lost, it’s HOW Les lost. A horrible game plan and his refusal to try anything different in-game to light a spark.

If he put in Jarrett Lee, or Mett, do we score any fewer points?

"Durr this option play that caught Bama off guard a few times in the first game will obviously dominate in a rematch two months later!" It's just mind-boggling that one of the top programs in the country had such a blithering idiot for a coach for over a decade. Maybe he does have Alzheimer's or dementia, Alleva wouldn't have had the spine to ask him to see a neuropsychologist though

Every team Lee started against lost 5 or more games, except 3.

Jordan Jefferson started against 3 teams with less than 5 losses.

Against those 3, he played well in one, meh in one, shithouse awful in one.

Jefferson numbers weren't that much off from Lee's, considering JJ was used less. . .and was suspended to start the year.

Jefferson was awful against UGA and Bama. We had more points than passing yards in Atlanta. We probably wouldn't beaten Bama with JL, but I'm thinking we score

Yeah

The fact that he showed up that day with the SAME EXACT offensive game plan as what worked for ONE frickING DRIVE in the prior game...……..was so stupid that frankly, people in Vegas should have been looking around for the fix being in.

I mean...…..a few years later...…...Saban sat a fricking TWO YEAR STARTER for a goddamned true Freshman cause things were going poorly.

I know it drives Miles crotch riders nuts but Miles deserves every ounce of hatred heaped upon him.

Honestly, it was so stupid...…...that despite reaching the fricking title game, it was almost an offense worth getting fired over.

That decision alone told you how dumb the man really was when it came to football.

Saban must have been on the sidelines in absolute stunned silence.
