The first slip I noticed was the Tunafish
Good call. They used to have a pretty damn good tuna salad sandwich, but it's bland and too mayonnaisey these days.
They also used to have a solid seafood medley several years ago. Last time I had it though, I puked my brains out the rest of the day. I think they took it off the menu within the same year.

quote:$15/hr minimum will do that to a menu of prices.
And how tf isn’t turkey $5 foot long anymore?

The Subway downtown on North Street (not North Boulevard) is still legit but then again it runs a little more expensive than the others and the owner (and his wife, I believe) is hands-on there damned near every day. I've gone there one and off for years and have yet to have had a bad meal (sandwiches, drink, cookies, etc).
For those that have mentioned Quiznos, I tried their foods a couple of times and was never impressed. Plus, their commercials looked like they were made by people who were in the middle of a deep LSD OD.
I agree though that what is holding Jimmy Johns back is the lack of hot foods. When I want a sandwich shop sandwich I generally want something that would take far too much time and effort on my part to make for myself (see: meatball sub).

Quiznos was definitely better than Subway, Firehouse, and Jimmy Johns (never had Jersey Mike's or Which wich)

Firehouse and Jersey Mike's make a more premium hot sandwich
Unless I am getting a meatball sub, I want mine cold!

Have your olfactory sense tested, baw.
The aroma of freshly baked bread smells nothing like the nasty smell emanating from a Subway.

Subway was a decent sandwich shop and a viable alternative to McDonalds
Are you saying subway has gone down hill compared to McDonald's? These two aren't even close, McDonald's has always been close to the bottom of the hill. Subway isn't great, but it's way better than McDonald's. Sometimes I want a sub sandwich and subway is an alright option for that. Never do I crave a burger and think of going to McDonald's to satisfy that craving.

Who ever thought rats advertising for a sandwich shop was a good idea ?
And Subway's commercials right now are the most annoying thing on TV.

I was in there yesterday and they are doing $5 footlongs this month. Only 3 to choose from but a minor fleeting return to the glory days.

No way. Subway is basement tier fast food.
McDs isn’t that bad. It’s at least consistently average across locations. Rarely is it awful.

I enjoy the Seafood Sensation from time to time.

Subway used to be the only game in town in many cities- now there’s Lenny’s, Firehouse, Jersey Mike’s, Jimmy John’s, etc-, all of which are better than Subway.

Keep you condescending remarks in the Food Board.
Subway can be good, just go to the ones where the owner is working there.

Lol. Obviously you're a fatty. I would eat subway over McDonald's just about any day.

Lol at thinking that subway is much healthier than McDonald’s

So, which shops do you work in?
I am baking two loaves of bread as I type. The smell of my kitchen smells nothing like a Subway.
Sorry for partying.

Lol at being dumb. Quote where I said that. It is healthier, but not much....just depends what you get. McDonald's is just shitty food though. Subway is somewhat edible.

Just had Jersey Mike’s. It’s now firmly in my rotation alongside Corner Bakery and Potbelly.
All are ok, but if I’m getting non-drive thru semi-fast food, it’s tough to beat Freebird burritos
