Growing up in NJ we have decent sandwich shops on almost every corner. Every deli makes a great sandwich. Subway isn’t anything close to that. Inga’s by LSU back in the day was the closest thing I’d find to something like that but still not as good. As for chain sandwich shops the best I’ve had so far is WaWa.
The HS cafeteria where I grew up had a better sub than most places I’ve visited in other states outside of the northeast.

Agree with decline. Subway is horrible now and generally if I eat there it's my only option. Subs from Publix grocery stores are the GOAT

In parts of Florida Publix is about the only option, but still pretty bad. Their bread is so inconsistent. The quality of subs and pizza seriously declines outside of the northeast.

I agree. Jimmy Johns is vastly overrated. Cold, bland sandwiches. Firehouse has the best subs.

Worked at Subway for 5 years in hs and college. The meats are disgusting. I honestly think prisoners get better quality food

Yeah, I don’t love Subway but I still like that at least a hot sandwich is an option there. Jimmy Johns would be great if they’d heat them.

I think they cheapened their brand when they slashed the crap out of prices to under cut Quiznos. Looks like they’re trying to bring back more premium options to compete with a suddenly crowded market of sub shops but now most view them as the lower quality, cheap option.

Subway is the next big flop in the restaurant industry. The food is horrible.

Firehouse, Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's and pretty much any local place make a better product than Subway
