The College World Series was played in Hoover?

Never been a big fan of Paul, but the dude just owns in Hoover and always has the team ready, and what’s most impressive is he always seems to find some bottom of the bench guy to come through with big pitching performances when we need it most.

It’s all the RV parking. He just can’t get enough and he coaches better because of it.

The difference in coaching styles during the 2017 CWS finals was striking. Kevin O'Sullivan was out there with his kid goofing around and playing catch. Mainieri was red faced and tight assed. It rubs off on the players. LSU's played uptight and stressed every postseason since 2009.

He is great in Hoover, not even his biggest hater can deny it deep down, although they'll try.

That said, I sometimes wonder if he puts too much emphasis on the SEC tournament and if it ends up costing us in the regionals and on. I guess there's no real way to know, but if they played like they do on the road in Hoover every time we have road games/series, we'd be a top 8 seed virtually every year. It's weird, to me at least, that we can play so well in Hoover but usually always struggle on the road everywhere else.

I didn't see a lot of coaching decisions that helped win games this week.

Such a stupid arse way to look at things

So he doesn’t get any of the credit when they win, but he’s 100% to blame when they lose

Of course not.

Mainieri deserves blame for the way the team has underperformed this year, make no mistake. But he deserves credit when things go right too. We've won 3 games in Hoover to essentially lock in a hosting spot. I'm more than intrigued to see how this season plays out. Mainieri shoulders the blame and credit for the bad and the good, as he is the head coach. It's pretty simple.

We won yesterday throwing Moffitt -> George -> Costello. He's not over-emphasizing anything. The team needed to win yesterday to lock in a hosting spot and they responded.

That Florida team was good but that walker injury hurt LSU more than anything. I honestly think they win that series if he didn’t get hurt.

Freshmen baserunning brainfarts cost us game 2 preventing Lange from pitching and winning game 3. That Florida team was a terrible hitting team.

In Jacques Doucet's post-game interview yesterday with Mainieri, Doucet reminded PM that LSU has made it to the SEC Tournament's semi-final game for the last 7 consecutive seasons. No other team comes close to that streak.

I feel like the tigers would have a couple more if the World Series was still okay at rosenblatt. LSU wasn’t built for early td america

Too bad success in Hoover doesn't mean much, and if it does, then we probably underperformed during the season.

Don't get me wrong, this week is really fun, but it doesn't wipe out the feeling that PM teams underperform more often than not.

Agreed. We have wins over a terrible team, a hapless team and a team that didn't need to win.

If all the other teams in Omaha cared as little about winning the tournament there as they do in Hoover...then yes, he would have won quite a few more.
